potting motor stator? damping quartz oscillator?

Hi guys, I just joined the forum. Lots of great projects and info here.

I recently acquired an SL-1200 and have been wondering about a couple of areas that i don't think I've seen anyone talk about.

In some industry applications I've seen motor stator coils "potted" to minimize vibrations. A thermally conductive epoxy-type resin is used, similar to what is used in transformers. Since the coils are vibrating to a small degree, it would make sense that potting them would be beneficial in a direct-drive motor.
Anyone tried this?

Also, years ago one of the tweaks that was common in CD players was to put blue-tak on the crystal oscillator clock to reduce timing errors due to vibrations. Would this have any place inside a turntable?

My guess with the former is that balancing would be a consideration.

Never before heard about the latter - is it valid?

Recall that the stator coils are stationary and rivited to the circuit board, so balance is not so much an issue, but clearance is.

As for the crystal Id have to dig around to see if anyone ever did error measurements. My guess is no.
