It went as follows......
Me:
"Thinking of selling off my turntable and just using Streaming to listen to music using the iPad to control everything.
Do you have any objections to me selling the turntable and my record collection?"
Wife:
"Why would you want to sell it all – I like having the records – I think it sounds completely different to CDs or on another system."
She talks a lot of sense that woman [emoji4]

You know what Mike I said something along those lines to my wife recently. Her answer was 'No way too many good nights in playing records for that to happen'! She doesn't share my anal retentivness about it all but definitely gets a kick out of the records and turntable as do a fair few of our female friends. Maybe it's not so male centric after all.
Has she an identical twin?

Just asked my partner the same question: "Do you think I should sell my records?". Answer: "No, of course not - they are your pleasure". :)
(The question was academic, as I have absolutely no intention of selling them. But it was nice to have a response similar to that from mikeyb's wife.)
I guess it's as good a test as any, as to whether or not your 'chosen one' is worthy of the position! ;)

I rarely play my records and I worked out if I sold them at the prices Discogs say they are going for and flogged my turntables as well I could pay of the remainder of the mortgage. Can't bring myself to do it though.

was just a leg pull mate :D back in the olden days it would have been called a tall tale...ie near impossible, but if told right is believable ;)

I put an LP on last night and tried an Long Dog Audio phono stage that I have on demo and d'you what, she's absolutely right.
I tried cd ( Marantz cd52se ), Streaming via my Pi but the turntable trounced them [emoji4]

My wife probably buys more vinyl than me I think.
When we met I didn't even have a record player and it was her that got me into vinyl.

My wife can take or leave shopping and we had a conversation a while back that went like this:
Me: I think I'm going to sell the Sondek, I never use it anymore.
Her: Are you sure? How can you sell it when you use to love it so much?
Me: Yes "used to", past tense. Can't be bothered with it any more
So maybe I have one of the other 32.3 one-in-a-millions?
Possibly not though, 'cos she likes The Archers :(
