Reluctantly for sale is this excellent example of the highly regarded 300b power amp. from J Sound Labs.
It comes with a pair of low hours Black Treasure 300b output valves and a pair of GE 6SN7GTB drivers.

This little beauty has its own volume pot so can be used as a single source integrated and additionally this particular example has been fitted with a pair of RCA output sockets allowing connection of a sub. if so desired.

It comes with the original box so could be posted with insurance at cost.

Asking price is £500 firm + postage costs or collection is possible from post code area LE15.210952109621097

I can confirm that is a very good amp as I was the original owner and fitted the output sockets after the volume control for a sub.

It might help if some specs were quoted. Like power output and speaker impedance matching.

I nearly bought this when you did, IIRC it came with spare valves do you still have these?

You are quite correct it did come with spare valves but I have not tried them or tested them and therefore am unsure of their condition. However, they will be supplied free with the amp should the new owner want them .

I sold this onto John and did include some spare 300b's but they had done a fair few hours if I recall. The Black Treasures are the ones to use and the spares when they perhaps need replacing(good while yet) and you waiting for the new ones to arrive.

Lawrence its not too heavy and if your happy to travel by train you might be able to agree a meet up with John. I used a IKEA blue bag with room to spare.

Its a lovely SET 300b and comes hight recommended.

Fantastic amp.

I know I've said it a hundred times but I'll never part with mine. Surprisingly punchy, superb tone, wonderful bass and the most wonderful open, holographic, room filling soundstage.

Does anyone have the specs of this beautifully looking amp? What is the minimum speaker sensitivity and recommended matching? Are schematics available in case, heaven forbid, any repairs are required later on? It seems that J Sound Labs of Israel are no longer in business (but my searches may be duff).

I've got them all somewhere Edward, ping me a pm with your email addy and I'll hunt them out. It's 8w output, Most of the speakers I've owned over the years have been 88db sensitivity or higher and an easy load, but I know Jon has used his with gamuts and mine sound pretty bloody good with mark and Daniel topaz stand mounts.

Many thanks Jake. Need to give this some serious thoughts. I just about managed to get my new speakers past the boss two weeks ago, getting yet another amp past her may be pushing it. :)

The amp looks really yummy.

Jake - many thanks for your input/help in respect of supplying Edward the link with the amp. specs. I am aware how highly you regard this little gem of an amp. and I have to agree with all your positive comments about its performance.
Edward - 'yummy' , although far from being a highly technical term does sum up the J Sound Labs amp rather well IMO. :)

@jonh - slept on it. It is a head vs heart thing. Head says I don't need yet another amp and can't justify it. Heart says it is a wonderful amp, will give an absolutely fantastic emotional experience and is also a work of art. Sadly my head has won this time - and swmbo is a factor. Sorry. Good luck with the sale. There is one lucky buyer out there.

@Lawrence - lovely cherry Kudos - from Adam (Westlover).

Fully understand Edward -I've been in exactly the same situation myself on more than one occasion.

The amp. Is still available.

Newbie question; looking for speakers to go with this, would it power tannoy little gold monitors, or would that not be a good match? Would like to try out valves on a sub £1500 budget and this amp seems ideal

I used to have this very amp and used it without issue with Living Voice Avatar's which are 94db sensitivity. I think the little gold monitors are 92db so not much different although of course the 92db may be incorrect. I haven't used Tannoys myself so perhaps see what others say first.

Depends which LGM. The 12 is 94db sensitivity I believe, the 10 very slightly lower.

Tannoys like a bit of 'grip' though. Some lower powered amps work with them, others can be a let down.

My 15 watt valve monos work well and I've had decent results from the 12 watt Leak Stereo 20.

I agree with the comments made by both 'Flapland' and 'Walpurgis' above.

I am no great expert on Tannoys myself although I did listen to a pair of Little Gold Monitors many years ago and liked them very much. In theory I would have thought the Soundlabs amp. ought to be ok with 92db sensitivity speakers but a lot depends on room size and how loud you want the sound to be.

Spencer, are you sure you are tackling this the right way round ? Perceived wisdom seems to be that you choose an amp. to best match your speakers; not choose speakers to best suit the amp. Although I'm sure many of us have done it the wrong way round at some time in the past :)

Spenagio

Definately not sure I'm tackling it the right way, having sold all my kit now looking to pair up speakers and amp at the same time. Thought I'd give valves a go, so will be buying speakers at the same time, only room limitations are size and close to wall positioning

Thanks Al, I was looking at getting some help but they were all going up the A1 not the M1. I've since sold my Audio Physics and bought some Kefs so I don't think a 300b would work well, my 40wpc EL34 struggles in the bass control.
