Hello there,
I'm looking for a pair of Klipsch Heresy or Tannoy Eaton/Devon speakers in very good condition.

Possible swap/part exchange with the following material I'm selling:
Quad ESL57 loudspeakers;
Totem Mite ex-demo (as new) loudspeakers;
Rega Aria MM/MC phono stage;
Rega Apollo-R CD player;
Naim Nait XS amplifier;
Decca London Gold cartridge.

I'm based in Ealing, West London.

Many thanks
Mauro

Hold out for a pair of Eatons Mauro. They sound better than the Devons and don't have rotting cone surrounds.

Do you think the Eatons are a better choice respect to the Heresy?

The Heresey has a somewhat limited bass extension, rather similar to the Devon. Big highish flux driver in a small box syndrome. The Eaton does not seem to suffer this and has a pretty solid bottom end for its size. I prefer it tonally to either of the others. The mid transparency is very good too. It's one of my favourite Tannoys, I've owned five pairs :).

Sorry Geoff,

What price do you think is a fair price for them?

There is a pair for sale on ebay at £500 starting price.

Yes, I've seen those. I've seen asking prices up to £1000, so I guess £500 or a bit above is pretty reasonable these days and that pair do look decent. Collect only from Glasgow though. Worth the trip in my view. Good Eatons don't come up for sale very often nowadays.

Hi Geoff, thank you for your suggestion.

I already saw them.

Unfortunately the seller doesn't agree for a Buy it Now.

And they can be collected from Isleworth, which is very close to me (I live in West Ealing, very close to you as well).

I've lost the previous pair for silly money (my maximum offer was £560, maybe too low).

I'm also very tempted from these ones, which are as new:

The seller is the same guy who sold two pairs of Heresy to Bev (Ninanina).

My amp is a Leben CS300.

What do you think?

Cheers.
Mauro

Sorry Geoff,

do you have any experience with the Mission 770, which are a lot cheaper?

Sorry, I've forgot to mention that the speaker position should be close to the rear wall.

Thank you.

Can't comment on the Missions, as I don't recall hearing that model. The Klipsch are possibly worth the money being 'as new', but I'd be looking for Eatons myself, but that's just my opinion.

The Eatons also have the benefit of being an investment, they have doubled in value in ten years and will continue to appreciate. Not to mention sounding just like the bigger 'classic' Tannoy dual concentrics on which they are based. The Eaton HPD drive unit is a work of art!

Sorry again Geoff,
regarding the Eatons you suggested on ebay,
I've found that on the labels on their back it is indicated:
SYSTEM TYPE HD385A instead of HD295A.

What does it means?

Many thanks.

I think somebody has swapped crossovers and labels, which is likely, as I see the serial number has been removed after the '295/'. Probably best avoided. There's no telling what other tinkering may have occured. Shame.
