I know this has probably been asked before but, Later in the year I will be paying visit to London and will be interested in trying to get to some vinyl record shops. I know the ones around Oxford Street and Berwick Street areas, but there must be others?
I found by accident a place called 'Cheapo Cheapo' which was fantastic, hope it's still there. If I can find it again that is.
I would prefer the shops to be more central London due to limited time. I have recently been talking to a mate of mine who mentioned a shop he thought was called 'Golden Sounds' or something similar within inner London.
Any ideas guys of shops worth a visit.

Cheers

There are mostly second hand shops think Camden and Notting Hill There is are two in the Angel forget names but one of them has gigantic stock. To be honest get most of my vinyl via ebay these days It also worth looking in charity shops Mind has a good one in Ealing

Hi John
Cheers for the reply. I don't know London that well so I have no idea what or where you mean when you mentioned 'the Angel' a more specific location would be good. Having looked at a map is the angel somewhere in Islington? which looks fairly close to Kings Cross Station where I arrive ( on a train obviously ) :) I'm not too bothered if the shops are new sales or 2nd hand. Just nice to browse throught some vinyl. The charity shops localy are poor and there are now no vinyl retailers in my area - North East.
Cheers for your reply and effort in advance.

P.S. - I realise London is a blooming big place but you are lucky to have so many retailers, even if they are spread about.

Try:

Intoxica! Records, 231 Portobello Rd, W11 - ’60s beat, soul, jazz.

On the Beat, 22 Hanway St, W1 - Soul, funk, reggae, ’60s beat or ‘post-war pop’.

Harold Moore’s, 2 Great Marlborough St, W1 - classical.

Sounds of the Universe, 7 Broadwick St, W1 - dubstep (whatever that is), jazz.

Revival, 30 Berwick St, W1 - anything and everything.

There's a few to have a go with! :)

Haggle is a bloody nightmare to shop in, Flashback further along is better, and don't forget Grahams HIFI around the corner , who have a small but superb range of LPs and CDs, lots of audiophile stuff
