Some years ago I purchased this amp and it had issues :( , It was consigned into a wardrobe in the bedroom :(

Some years later I found it again and decided to get it sorted , at first I though it may be V fet issues , however after speaking to Mike Powell he said If a V fet had blown ( No longer available ) you would get no sound out of the affected channel , I packed it up and sent it to Bolton in Lancashire for a rebuild and testing , Some time later Mike contacted me saying its all done and ready to come back home :)

All Caps renewed even the 4 massive ones , had to wait 2 months for these to be made , Did I say they are massive :)

Mike has had it on test and has given it a clean bill of health , Cant wait to get it back , I asked Mike to do something with the pony binding posts that had at some time been fitted , they are now proper :)

This is a link to the VK web site showing the power amp :eyebrows:

I wondered when you'd get around to doing something with that Al. :)

It should sound superb.

Forgot to say the RCA connecters have been replaced the gold plated units :)
Fully DC, with two transformers for the regulation, two toroidal transformers for the power stages and a total 88,000µF of caps. The frame structure and back "holders" are made of diescast aluminium. The toroidal trafos were custom-ordered to Nippon Kinzoku, a company still in business today which must have provided most if not all toroid trafos to high-end JP hi-fi throughout the 70s and early 80s.

Only 3000 made for use WORLDWIDE :D

I have heard it, but it wasn't at its best.

Always wanted a TA-8650 VFET jobbie.

Also desirable. I do have love for the old Sony gear.

Lovely bit of kit. What speakers will you use it with, Al?

I've got you both confused. What I meant was, that you shouldn't really hear an amplifier, just what it is amplifying.

No report yet as I changed to many things at once due to a faulty cart tag on my 10.1 Pro Ject TT

Have been using CD different cables , different pre amp all trying to find why one channel was pulsing in and out

 DOH

New cart tags on order :)

That's why I always test new kit with digital. Makes fault finding much simpler. Just too many thing that can be broken or set wrong with a TT :)
