Hello all,
Have just joined AoS and would like to say Hi Y'all.. I've been lurking on the site for a month or so.. Thought it was about time I upgraded my Hi-Fi, and the first purchase has been a Caiman DAC (arrived today!) Am looking to get a new amp and speakers over the month.
Used to have a old '80s Akai amp, but a couple of years ago I got hold of a Charlize 2 that I thought was just a temporary step to getting a 'proper' amp, so didn't really bother too much in packaging it. I just wired it up, stuffed it in a cardboard box and it sounded so good I didn't bother reboxing it (see below)
My main source is a Squeezebox 3, being fed from FLAC files from a 2TB Synology nas drive - ripped and boxed away my CDs and vinyl for space reasons. Speakers are my trusty old Heybrook HB1s.
Mainly into classic/hard rock, some prog, blues and all manner of other stuff.
Cheers :pub:

Hi and welcome to AOS
Another squeezebox user ' do you have a turntable out of interest ? .
Cardboard box audio. Wow, never thought of that before. What a brilliant anti-high end audio jewellery statement :)
Welcome to AOS, where sound comes first :)

Hiya Greybags!
You made it to the Welcome area then, without bumping into the first post police in a dark alley!
There's a thread somewhere here with some speakers in cardboard baffles - nothing to do with you I don't suppose?
What's your first name?
Cheers

Cool, a Harrods Amplifier. Very exclusive don't you know. Now here's a thought, you could stick a Cmoy in a Harrods box, seal with Harrods tape and flog it for a mint at The Rocky Mountain AudioFest. You'd probably even win best in show
Welcome! Quite a fantastic amp, I think it will catch on! Enjoy the forum.

Thanks all - great to be welcomed - I was wondering how my anti-hifi statement would come across. I find this particular type of corrugation dissipates the unmagnetic eddy flux and contrarotates the nanophony better than Harrods boxes.
Hi Chris - I'm Graham BTW. No I'm not responsible for cardboard baffles, though for a few years the foam surrounds on the bass drivers had disintegrated to just floating cones. Found replacements tho.:lolsign:
