Schiit Asgard 2

Just recently acquired a 'used' example.

The build quality is very good indeed. Has a good hefty little power-supply inside. Not surprised, as it weighs nearly 4kg.

Runs in Class A....Gets very warm!

Anyone else using the same amp?

As you know I have the MK1 which is a beast. How are you finding the MK2 compared to other Headphone amps you've tried?

I’m using a Schiit Asgard 2 as preamp/headphone amplifier in my desktop system (http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?11546-Werner%92s-system&p=763801#post763801):

It’s an excellent amplifier. In my opinion it works best with headphones with an impedance <= 300 Ω. In my equipment list the Schiit Valhalla, Schiit Lyr and SPL Phonitor provide more power for headphones with a higher impedance.

Must try my AKG K701's with the Asgrad. As they have a fairly low impedance, of slightly over 60 ohms.

personally I felt the K701 headphones don’t go that well together with the Schiit Asgard. The Schiit Lyr is much more powerful and makes listening with the K701 really enjoyable (if the weird K701 headband isn’t a problem for you). The AKG K712 and the Schiit Asgard are a good match, but (in my opinion) the K701 sounds a little bit thin and lifeless.

The design is different, bass reproduction of the AKG K712 has been improved, the weird ”bumpers“ headband of the 701 is history ;-)

No, I’m very happy with headphones from Beyerdynamic and AKG.

Lovely looking set up, Werner.
