Revolver Cygnis Speakers

Just acquired these fabulous speakers. I guess not a manufacture that comes to mind, as Revolver was a turntable manufacturer in the days of old.

Anyway, this is not a review, more a statement of complete surprise!

Over the last 50 years or so, I have always been a Tannoy / Kef lover. I thought my last pair of Kef 105/3's were the absolute dogs but these speakers take enjoyment levels to the next high.

Many will argue / disapprove but these are the finest speakers that I have ever had the pleasure to listen to.

Anybody heard these? Or any comments.

I guess at the £8500 asking price is out there!!!! and many other choices are available. But perhaps a combination of speakers and room acoustics that make these very special? Who knows?

They do it for me, that's for sure.

HFW gave them a good write up back in about 2006. Three way, quality drivers, big cab, decent size bass unit. What's not to like? Are they sealed or ported?

Hi Macca,

The design is based on a split box. The bass unit is bottom vented (so effectively a bass reflex design) the top box containing the mid and tweeter is a sealed unit.
I understand that this particular unit was designed by Mike Jewitt (Ex Haybrook) & Charles Greenlees (Ex JPW)
There is also now a bigger bother... the Cygnis Gold.

A Fab British built speaker, for sure.[emoji41]

I was one of the original HFW reviewers and remember them well as they were one of my first reviews at the magazine.

They remain one of my all-time favourite passive loudspeakers.

Wow, I'm obviously impressed as you were when you done the review. To be honest, I've never heard the like!! It's almost like they are completely invisible and just so musical

revolver made some lovely speakers , I have a pair rw16 . seen these many times in the world class section in hi fi world . they look lovely and look forward to hearing more about them
