I have installed the lastest version of Exact Audio Copy on two PC’s running Windows 7, both Home Premium version. On one PC it runs OK, the other it shuts down when you run a command. Have tried going back a version of EAC and changing the compatibility but still no go.

Any ideas on a fix for this?

Do both PCs have optical drives?

EAC goes into a fug if it can't find an optical drive (at least the version I'm using does but it's not the latest).

Hi Chris

Yes, it is an Acer Z5610 Touch PC which has an optical drive. I have since put EAC on an Acer laptop so my problem is potetially solved, although I would like to get to the bottom of why the Z5610 shuts down EAC.

Is it worth reporting a bug on the EAC site ?

Try to start up the program with Administrator rights. If it doesn't shut down this time, then it needs re-installing using the adequate rights.

Good point - I'd forgotten about the access rights stuff - they never got it to work properly with Vista, did they ?

Seven is better at it, the default value is less intrusive, but some programs still have an abnormal behavior... :(
Oh well, I guess it's the price to pay (for most people) to avoid installing Trojans.

EAC doesn't require any special rights or compatibility settings on Vista here.
