Mon cher Guillaume,

En anglais, "flog" veut dire "fouetter" mais en argot il veut dire "vendre".

Warming up this thread....

I have the opportunity to purchase a Onix OA22 amplifier for a low price because one of the channels is not working according to the seller. Does any one know what could be wrong with the amp ? Would it be difficult / costly to fix ?

Thank's

rupert

Each channel has a little man inside who's job it is to switch the current here, there and everywhere. He's probably snuffed it, so you'll need a new one.

Not cheap mate. Not cheap at all.

Probably just the output stage (drivers normally survive according to a thread I saw from Tony) - but impossible to say for sure without popping it open.

It likely Also has a couple of open reaistors if its the stage, will also benefit from a recap, and bias will need adjusting.

Are you going to bid on it? I don't want to bid against another member (am also in CH) :)

;-) the one on ricardo ?

yes, I think I will put a low bid on it as the risk that I won't be able to fix it myself is quite high ..

how do you do "bias adjustment" ?

Yep - Ricardo. But I note its already gone too rich for my blood (it is only a 22, not a 21!). If you end of winning and need assistance with the repair, let me know (I'm 20 mins down the lake from Zurich).

Need to check on the bias adjustment on this model - likely a fixed voltage drop across the OP stage resistor, there'll be an adjustment pot somewhere. Care is needed doing this if you are not familiar though :)
