Looking for some reasonably priced 845 type valves for some tube rolling in my Mr Liang. Can swap the famous Kevin Scott recommended Hitachi interconnects (practically unused) as part of deal if anyone fancies a go?!

Cheers, kev:bike:

Hi Kev
Dont bother buying expensive 845 tubes for your Liang the standard ones are best ,try changing the driver tube for a kt88 or similar this gives a better improvement, but best of all convert it to accept gm70 tubes.
Regards Dave.

Cheers Dave, will give that a go then! Any KT88's you would recommend? What's involved in the conversion - although this would be a project for the future!:)

They should drop straight in, you could also try 5881.

For the driver valves that is... Converting to GM70's needs different valve bases and an extra transformer for the heater supply.

Kt66 and 6L6 also work as driver tubes, maybe el34 if someone can confirm. Kt88 has more weighty sound. As Dave says, the std 845 tubes are good. We are guessing you are not using the 300B driver version of this amp which is quite different !! If so these recommendations won't work and won't fit unless you use a hammer ;)
