Some of you will know DQ from various forums (mostly HFS), and he may not exactly be your best friend (to put it mildly), as indeed he isn't mine, for various reasons, mostly because we're quite different people.

However, I was genuinely saddened to hear that he's recently suffered from what seems like a serious stroke, as he's currently lost his speech, and for that also to happen to someone fairly young and with kids, is awful.

Therefore, despite our differences, I sincerely wish him all the best, and the quickest and fullest recovery, whilst extending my condolences to his good lady and all of his family at what must be the most distressing of times.

Get well soon, DQ!

Marco.

Not sure if your comment is appropriate at this time, given the sad situation.

Even though I dislike his internet persona, I would not wish this on anybody, especially someone with a young family.
I hope DQ makes a speedy recovery and is there for his family soon.

I don't agree with all his views but have always enjoyed his rather mischevious sense of humour. It's a terrible thing to have happened and I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

The dislike of me and what i do on HFS is hardly a secret and Daniel has been as vociferous as anyone on RD's forum in his slating of me. However, to wish ill on a man at a vulnerable time, and a man with a wife and son to boot is despicable and those taking part in this should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. He may not like me, he may not like what i do and he may well have slagged me on public forum, but I wish him a speedy recovery so he can return to a family that is clearly close and tightknit and full of love!
Keyboard warriors need to stand down and take a good look at themselves at this time in my opinion.

Hear, hear Stu (on all counts)! What matters now is Dan getting well, ASAP. nothing else.

Just to address some comments being made on HFS, regarding Dan's banning from AoS, and a suggested return here once he's recovered from his stroke.

Firstly, the fact is Dan quit/stopped posting on AoS LONG before he was banned, simply because he didn't like me or approve of how the forum was run, which was entirely his decision.

This is all in the archive for anyone who chooses to look, and indeed when (let's hope) he regains his ability to communicate, Dan will confirm.

He was only banned when (for whatever reasons he considered were justified) started slagging off AoS and me, on HFS, which is an immediately ban-able offence, as I don't have to put up with being 'bitched about' on another forum. If any member of AoS has got something to say about AoS (or me), then they can do it 'to my face' here, on Critics Corner or via PM.

If I consider the criticism justified, then I'll take it on board, as I have done on many occasions, but if it's simply out-and-out rudeness and/or someone patently refusing to comply with how we expect people here to behave, then they'll be booted, as I don't see why I (or anyone else being slagged off on another forum) should be forced to share the same webspace with someone who obviously holds me in utter contempt.

Life's too short for that shite, and no-one needs the stress. The fact is, you wouldn't share the company of people you don't get on with in real life, so I don't see why an on-line community [which is what this place essentially is] should be any different!

Now, as Anna (Dan's good lady wife) has stated herself so honestly, on HFS:

DQ is who he is. I know he's an Ass. I know he is opinionated. I know he is always right. I also actually know the complete picture of DQ, so totally understand that those who only see fragments would find him mighty annoying to put it mildly !

*That* is precisely why Dan and I don't get along (online): a gross personality clash, as I annoy him (because of the way I am/act), as much as he annoys me (because of the way he is/acts), and neither of us are going to change anytime soon!

Therefore, what is the point of rescinding Dan's ban, simply for the same situation to (inevitably) happen again? It's almost certain that, sooner rather than later, I would get on his nerves (and vice versa) the same as before, with the same consequences...

However, *more importantly*, we don't even know if HE would want to come back to AoS, as the very reasons he left/stopped posting in the first place are still valid. Nothing has changed, in that respect, and nothing will either, because our thinking on so many matters is fundamentally different.

That said though, and as I'm a reasonable guy, when (let's think positively) Dan recovers fully from his stroke, and IF HE decides that he'd like to give it another go, and post here, then I will wipe the slate clean, give him that opportunity and see what happens. I don't think I can realistically be any fairer than that. I'm always willing to give people a chance, especially if they're willing to co-operate and be reasonable.

And, unlike some, I don't hold grudges forever, nor do I start threads like this unless I mean the words.

Btw, Anna, if you're reading this, rest assured that I couldn't be more sincere in wishing Dan the quickest and fullest recovery. I was genuinely saddened to hear what had happened to him, and as a Christian, he will remain in my prayers that he can recover quickly and return to how he was. In that respect, my thoughts are with you and your children/associated family. I hope that you all have the strength to cope with being dealt such a terrible blow.

Life really is too short to spend it in perpetual resentment of, and in continual conflict with others. Certain people should think about that very seriously... Ultimately all you're doing is punishing yourself.

Good health is also something that should never be taken for granted, so we all should spend our time on this earth trying to be the most decent human beings that we can, respecting and showing tolerance towards our fellow man, and most of all, spending time with our loved ones, making good, not bad memories, because we'll never know when our last chance will be to do that.

Marco.

I had many arguments with the guy but actually respect his political views (agree with some of them)

Anyone who knows me, understands I'm a bit of a wind up merchant but wish nothing but the best to Dan and his family for a quick and full recovery.

We may act like cvnts online but most of us are actually pretty decent in real life.

Get well Dan (you ambulance chasing twat ;) )

Very late to this sad news.

I don't know DQ, have had no contact with him, but I am aware of some of the issues, but now is most definitely not the time to keep stoking whatever fires of animosity exist.

I will add DQ and his wife and family to my daily prayer list - already started - and I wish him a full recovery and a speedy one.

A very good friend of mine nearly died from a stroke, it was seriously touch and go, but, and it has taken time, he has made a nearly full recovery to the point there isn't much he can't do now that he could before the stroke.

So if you are maybe reading this Anna there is most definitely hope that Daniel will make a pretty full recovery. Have hope.

May the Lord Bless you and keep you, May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and give you Peace - Healing and Blessing.

God Bless.
