Takes me back to summer holidays in Eckernförde in the mid 70's, we were near Hohne at that time, happy memories.

Yes. Very nice. The cat looks a bit too smug though! :)

Geoff,

Yes. Very nice. The cat looks a bit too smug though! :)do you mean the gray-tinted small tiger, sitting on the bed? Joy’s an attached, timid and trusting animal. A few years ago she was hit by a car and got seriously injured at the hip.

Looks quiet.

James,
Looks quiet.yes, this is one of the major reasons I decided to spend the summer here. Other reasons: air quality (I suffer from asthma, COPD and lung emphysema) and fine temperatures compared to the heat waves in Central Europe.

Did you visit the Elbphilharmonie Werner? It looks a fascinating building. Great photos again. I love the open spaces of northern Germany and the Baltic (Ost See).

Simon,
Did you visit the Elbphilharmonie Werner?no, not yet. Currently I enjoy the silence, seclusion and the unpopulated, open space here. Hamburg is a huge, loud, crowded and busy metropole.

Maybe in a few months, during winter or spring time, I’ll visit Hamburg, after the dust will have settled down, the troubles of my resettlement shall be over and I’ll eventually feel familiar in my new small flat.

I appreciate the architecture you have photographed - some very nice buildings and details.

I was hoping to see further photos of the bouldering and whether the lady got off the ground !

Thanks for sharing these with everyone.

oh, Daniela just made some fun during a hike with her sister back home in the mountainous Tyrol. She just added two photos to my album to show a contrasting, very different landscape.

Thank you for watching these pictures. For me it creates a feeling of being connected with other people, knowing some kind folks out there enjoy my photographs.

Wintertime here is hard to bear: Gray cloudy sky, with a lot of rain and really strong storms.

Werner, I looked through your photos with great interest. You see, my grandfather was born and raised in Eckernförde, and his forefathers were all from Schleswig-Holstein. My Father was born in Blekede...not S-H but on the Elbe anyway. I still have relations in Kiel. Your photos brought back many memories of visiting them all in the area. Nord-Ostsee Kanal, Kiel und Laboe, Sylt, die Nordsee Küste und Wattenmeer. Wonderful places.

Thank you for sharing that. Great photos! Really took me back to my roots.

Best regards,
Svend

So true Werner. I hope to visit there again soon. As mentioned, I still have relatives in Kiel area (Altenholtz and Ottendorf), and am long overdue for another visit. Looking forward to touring around there again.

Best regards,
Svend

Svend,
As mentioned, I still have relatives in Kiel area (Altenholtz and Ottendorf), and am long overdue for another visit. Looking forward to touring around there again.Kiel is a wonderful city with a long, interesting tradition of seafaring, marine and maritime technology and architecture. Having relatives in this area shall make your visit even more important and gratifying.

I look forward seeing part of my family living in the easternmost province of Austria near the hungarian border, maybe next spring or autumn.

Best regards,

Werner.

Phil,
took a little pic of rothenburg as well as many otherscongratulations, Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a beautiful, picturesque and romantic old town. Landscape, culture and food of Bavaria, the German state where Nuremberg (Nürnberg) is located, are very similar to Austria. Schleswig-Holstein near the Danish border, the northernmost state of Germany in which I live, is quite different from the Bavarian/Austrian culture.

I’m glad you enjoyed your trip to Germany. It’s an interesting, really big country.
