FWIW
I swapped MI iPod Classic for a FiiO x5 (2nd Gen)... Knocks the iPod for a 6....plays flac files, has a dedicated line out and uses a jog wheel just like the iPod

I have a classic I no longer use but not sure which gen it is.

It's one with a hard drive not static ram but in excellent condition and I've owned it from new.
