It would be useful to know how long the speaker cables are to give an accurate price.
As far as I know, the power amp is a Colin Wonfor (One4Audio) SECA DIY power amplifier.

The valve DAC is a bit special.

Doesn't look like much and has no top, but it is the prototype of the Longdog Audio dac, and has a valve output stage with Bud Purvine transformers, and it's seen off many a dac over the last few years. If anyone is interested please let Colin know. I'd say a fair price would be around £400 or so. The transformers alone were around £200.

Ask Ali Tait on here.

No. This is not a sales offer. Lee wants to confirm the identity of these items and get an idea of values. He can't list these in Private Exhibtions until he has that info.

Thank you. Yes, mainly trying to get an idea of what the items are worth initially. I get the impression Molly is keen to get thing moving as soon as possible but obviously it's important to make sure she's getting a fair price, not a fire sale. For items that are easily valued (e.g. the branded speaker cables) then fair offers can go straight to Molly from here. The more valuable items I will re-list individually with detailed photos once I've got more info.

Good on you Lee for helping out.

The valve Dac I'm very familiar with, Ali Tait having brought it over to my place several times and I've heard it at his.
Superb bit of kit, deserves to sell.

I'm interested in the EWA speaker cable personally Lee, if the right length for my needs (at least 2.2 ish metres long) I'll buy them.

Private Message sent.

Colin,

Your input into the various bits you have designed/manufactured would be good.
The SECA amp is one item that interests me, but I have no idea on what a fair value would be.
Could you give Lee some pointers (if you have not already)?

It is good to see this being done properly. It is a sad thing to have to do.

Thanks for all the responses. Colin, I'll send the more detailed photos on to you.

Molly measured the speaker cables for me today, one pair of LS-XXVs are 5.2m, one pair of LS-V 5m.

Kevin,

No it is not it is a one off SECA Amp I did for James a special it is 50W/Ch and there is only this one.
It sounds superb and James did a fantastic Job, to build from scratch would cost about £2K without the time cost.
It was the first one I did after the TQ era, and has I say the only one.
CCT are available.

This is a SECA Headphone and Phono Pre, again a one off only, just for James.
A pre-amp PCB and a Power Supply PCB again CCT are available value for PCB about £200.00

It has a special MP3 input which make the signal from good MP3, sound like a Phono stage. BW 20Hz-20KHz flat

This is the unfinished 50W SECA PCB as James was going to go Bi-Amping , God that would be loud BW 5Hz - 100KHz Flat DF over 1000 with the transformers from Canterbury windings, but you will need a big heatsink.

Value for PCB about £200.

I think I can shed a little light on the balanced mains unit.

James built one for me that I believe was the same from a specs POV. He called it the MTBPS ("Mother Trucker Balanced Power Supply")
I paid him £600 all inclusive to do so.
I've just been looking through old correspondence to confirm the specs, but can't find the relevant emails or messages unfortunately. It's possible we discussed it over the phone or via text.
From memory, the balanced toroid in the unit is rated 3kVA, but has a 5kVA core. James knew someone in the industry who wound toroids and had him make these bespoke ones specially to order.
It's a great piece of kit.

http://brighterlouder.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_0999.jpg

On a personal note, thanks to those who are co-ordinating this sale. The proceeds will certainly help his family. I knew James only a little but I valued his friendship a great deal. He was a good person. I am sure he would have felt gratitude to those who are now helping out those who were nearest and dearest to him by finding good homes for his audio gear.

Following his death, I placed what I hope was a fitting little momento on the MTBPS he built for me.
RIP Sov!

Mine simply has an iec and an MK double mains socket on the back, but based on the photo of James' own one here, it looks like he's done something different with his.

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for all the responses and information. Doing my best to stay on top of it.

For the speaker cables, the LS-V is 5m and the LS-XXV is 5.2m, so presuming the prices on the website are for a pair, they would be worth £426 and £876 respectively built new. Is is reasonable to ask for offers circa 50% of the new price? I.E. Circa £210 for the LS-V and circa £440 for the LS-XXV? They are visually in very good condition, the LS-V has both cables in a single box, the LS-XXVs are in cloth bags in separate boxes.

James used PowerCON True 1 inputs and outputs for this one.

I think there also some True 1 to IEC cables of decent spec that could be supplied along with the balanced supply.

The DDDac 1794 project probably cost around £1100 to get to the point it is at the moment (choke power supply, dddac psu, mainboard, dac board, usb board, shunt regs and case) but there is a newer version available that is a bit cheaper and would save £100 to £150 as it has built in shunt regs. There are a couple of extra transformers in the case that aren't needed for a standard build, maybe the plan was to add a streamer or split the mainboard supply between digital and analogue. I've just finished one without the choke supply or usb board and it cost £650 to finish. Hope this helps.....
