Hi from Manchester

Hi all just joined and completely new to this new world of sound systems. I want to start small and take it from there.
I was wondering if these components would work together and woul I need to order any seperate cables or anything else just to listen to my old vinyl lps.
marantz pm 5005 amp or a onkyo a9010
project primary turntable
AKG k550 headphones
Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

There's much second hand and vintage gear well worth considering.

Before committing to buying anything, try and hear a few systems. Loads of us have more than one system , one of which is often based around budget components, which might help you find what your looking for without risking buying stuff unheard.

Oh. And some superb sounding equipment can be over forty years years old as well. Believe it or not.

Welcome to AoS Wayne,

Don't worry - we all had to start out knowing very little.

Although I'm not familiar with any of the gear you mention, I see no reason why it should not work together.

If the Project TT comes with a lead fitted, then just plug that into the input on the back of the amp marked "Disc", or "Phono". If not, then buy a pair of 1m long interconnects terminated with RCA phono plugs and use that.

The headphones can be plugged into the headphone jack socket of the amp; assuming it has one. Ideally you need to fix a 10W rated 8
Ohm resistors across each of the loudspeaker outputs on the back of the amp.
