I came across a new 2nd hand record store in my Saturday morning potter around Pershore market (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Pershore+Retail+Market/@52.1124243,-2.0774147,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x4870e43e8d8d05f9:0xadca7 ccfe7114b53!8m2!3d52.112421!4d-2.075226).

Small, but a very interesting selection of LPs at proper prices (more like what we used to pay before the idiots discovered vinyl). And run by someone who is genuinely interested in the music.

I think I could be losing a few hours here.

Thanks for the tip - dropped in for a mooch on Saturday last, in between crate-digging in Malvern and a curry in Stratford.

Friendly proprietor, decent enough shop, but nothing I wanted/needed and I came away empty-handed. One of those shops that'd be useful to anyone wanting to reacquire the record collection they sold off in years gone by.

First time in Pershore, though, and a thoroughly spiffing little place it is, too.

I really like Pershore, and tend to do my weekend shopping there Saturday mornings.

I can highly recommend Number 8 (http://www.number8.org/) as a great venue for cinema and the occasional concert.

Sedgeberrow Books (http://www.sedgeberrowbooks.co.uk/) is one the best secondhand bookshops around - I have to stop myself visiting as I always come away with at least one book - and I have a backlog of books to read.

If you like your food, there are a couple of great butchers on the high street, and a very good fish monger in the market. The green grocers are also very good. And Pershore is also the home to the best Sausage and Bacon sandwich on the planet (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Coffee+%26+More/@52.1101632,-2.0800733,16.71z/data=!4m8!1m2!2m1!1scafe+pershore!3m4!1s0x0:0x27b3 e018332e5010!8m2!3d52.1117601!4d-2.0762162?hl=en-GB).

Tell me about it: 6' of science fiction and about 4' of travelogues and books on archeology!

Me too, although I'd no idea of where Pershore was, until I looked it up... ;)

There's a farm in Pershore that sells home made scrumpy £1 a pint too. Very powerful stuff & tastes like squash. Must visit again one day

An update - The store in Pershore has closed, but Jason has joined forces with Recent & Rare Records, Suite 3, King Charles Court, Vine Street, Evesham, Worcestershire, WR11 4RF. So even more temptations on my doorstep. The web site is still active too: https://desirablevinyl.co.uk

I was in Pershore a few years ago to fit solar panels and some new windows at a house there. The customer sent me home with a shit-load of home made marmalade and chutneys. I thought at the time 'Here's a place I could happily live'. A nice little market town with no apparent airs and graces, and a nice clean-looking river running through it which looks like a good place for messing about on the water. The Malvern Hills are very close by, too.

I imagine house prices could be quite high though.

Compared with prices in Lancs, perhaps, but not particularly expensive for the area.

Doesn't really matter what the prices are like, the stumbling block would be persuading Mrs. P to move 150 miles from her family. Women are funny about that sort of thing, and now that her kids are having bloody kids, it's only going to get harder.

Only kidding, and I'm really looking forward to this Christmas. :)
