In January of this year I paid a visit to James (jimbo ) of this parish , who kindly put me up for the weekend . The whole weekend is documented elsewhere on the forum . Whilst there I became very impressed with James own system which consists of VPI and GL75 turntables , Croft pre and power amps and Spendor speakers . James informed me a couple of weeks later that he was about to embark on an experiment where he was going to install another Croft power amp into his system to biwire . I believe that the extra amp wasn't to his taste and he kindly offered the Croft to me for the price he had paid for it . As I was intending to try these amps in my own system I took him up on his offer and duly installed it into my system . While I was very pleased with the result I knew a Croft preamp was also required . Fortunately a Micro 25 preamp ( with remote volume control ) came up locally and I was knocking on the sellers door within the hour . I installed the preamp into my system and both pre and power amps have been there ever since .

With the addition of the little Taket Batpur supertweeters , some fantastic new mains cables from David at MCRU , and a Denon DA 3000USB DAC I feel my system is complete .

It has taken a few weeks for this system to come on song , however '' on song '' it has become . The level of detail which I'm now hearing is fantastic . I'm now hearing previously hidden details on tracks which I've been listening to for years . I was listening to Nitin Sawhneys album Beyond Skin last night and was taken aback at the SQ . As I listened throughout the day I had a stupid grin on my face , track after track .

The supertweeters and the DAC have been welcome additions to my system , however , in my opinion , the gamechanger has been the addition of the Croft pre and power amps . I've had quite a few amplifiers in my system over the years but I truly think I've reached my destination with these latest additions .

I am glad you are happy with your system, but I did not see a T/T? ;)
I feel I am almost there, but still want to try some bigger speakers.

Decided that I was very happy with my digital set up at the moment Kevin . A T/T may be one for the future , when I retire ?

If I were you I would try to get a listen to a pair of of Colin Topps floorstanders .

Glad the crofts didnt go with the Lenco. Didnt want to ask the last time we spoke.

Ive heard the Croft pre/power at Brians place...a sublime combo on the end of a fine digital set up-just natural non fatiguing music that is totally enthralling.

Had a 7 power amp in my life but had to sell as circumstances dictated-fabulous bit of kit.

Croft stuff for me lives in that lovely category of equipment you buy and keep and pass onto yer kids. Proper HI-FI.

Hope your Emma and her weans derive as much pleasure when you pop yer clogs!!!

I am glad that your are enjoying the pre and that you decided to keep it.

I would have kept it myself if I hadn't inherited my uncle's amp.

Isn't it about time you updated your signature? Lol

Forgot about that Adam . The Croft amps are Keepers mate . The valve amp you were replacing the Croft pre looked and sounded a bit special mind :)
