Hi all!

Don't know if it's the right place for this thread, if not the staff is welcome to place it where it should have been!

Well, I maybe have an opportunity to get a pair of used ROGERS LS 55... Never had an opportunity to hear them... Is there someone here to give me a feedback on these speakers?

I know the brand, and heard about the little famous LS3/5a, but have no experience about it...

So what can you tell me about those speakers?I would "feed" them with the ONIX OA21S... How would it sound ? (Andre??? Any advice?)

BTW, the price asked is 250€... Worth the money?

Thanks a lot!

O.A.

I used the LS5's and liked them as a small brightly lit speaker, but never knew the 55 floorstander.

I think the price is rather high for long discontinued products that you won't have a chance in hell of servicing should the amp ever take out a bass unit.

Just 'cos they're Rogers doesn't mean they're ALL good and forget the LS3/5A, they sold in small numbers domestically over three decades, were a pita to build and calibrate and have been way outclassed by todays better babies such as Harbeth P3ESR and I daresay the very basic but beautifully voiced AVI N5 would see 'em off too in most repsects.......

For 250 euro's, I'd look out for some Spendor SP1's and get them sited on 30cm to 35cm high open-frame stands. They'll need pulling from the wall a foot or two, but they're so sweet sounding, have a reasonably well behaved bass, look more modern than BC1 or BC2 and still sound great on most music styles except VERY LOUD rock, which would melt the Onix as well anyway.....

Hi DSJR,

Thanks for your comments...

I've organised a "listening meeting" with the current owner... I'll take the OA21S&SOAP with me to "see" how it sounds...

i'll keep you posted!
