Hi Guy’s, I need a little bit of help?

I have the chance to buy a pair of Cary Audio CAD-50M Mk 11 power amp’s from a friend of a friend who bought them 2nd hand and has had them for 5 years, he does not know how old they are or anything about them and never had any work done to them, he lives over 300 miles from me but I hope to get up there and try them out soon.

My question is! Has anyone here had or heard these amp’s before, if so what do they sound like and what to look out for when checking them out, also do you think they would drive my Harbeth 30.1 speakers ok? the Harbeth’s are 87db, I am not to sure?.

Many Thanks
Steve

You may find the manual useful: http://www.caryaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/CAD-50M-MkII_v2.pdf

Looks like they should be powerful enough for the Harbeths.

If you need them checked over, you could try Graeme (valvebloke - http://www.ampregen.com/index.html) or Henry Dulat (toprepairman) - both usernames on hiFi Wigwam. Both are within an hours drive for you.

I have the 805c's - go - listen - trust your ears. Get them checked over.
