To try atop my frugalhorns XLs. I'd like a nice easy to use plug and play unit ... not looking to wire in caps etc.

Townshend probably out of my range price wise, anything good and affordable out there please?

Try batpure on eBay - around 400£. Never see them for sale second hand unlike Townshend.

I've got a pair of Heil AMT ribbon type ones, I think they were originally about £150 off ebay, how does £75 sound?

Actually I should try them with my new speakers before I commit to selling them! I'll get back.

Ok got them out and they do make my speakers less laid back, which is a good thing in their new position nearer the wall, so I'll have to do some more experimenting before I can decide, sorry.

What an interesting thread.

Any idea the sensitivity on those little Batpures?

These are mine mounted in little wooden boxes sitting on top of my speakers . I may buy another set to try in different positions around my listening area :)

70db / 1m...you can't here them...but they have an effect over the whole range...adding clarity and air...a marvelous wee tweeter....

Hmm,I feel a debate about their real sonic contribution is called for!

The Tannoys are about 93db though ... quite sensitive ... massive difference from 70db. what sensitivity of speakers are you using it with?

I'm using them with Tannoy 637s at 91db sensitivity Tom .

Uhhhh Mark Audio drivers NEED Tweeters. My frugals did.
Because the single cones simply cannot do a decent job of it anywhere near 20khz let alone over (or 100hz either but I digress).
Fitted CSS 1" domes (~ 25$ the pair a few years ago) which were purpose designed to complement the Mark Audio drivers.
(Mfg'd by Mark Audio I believe)
Crossed at 4000hz IIRC
Quite sweet/pleasing tweets actually.. belying their price
Much improved soundstage and clarity. A mandatory pairing IMO.
Bass remains a weak point though

You been at the sherry again? Who is Mark Audio and what has he got to do with this thread?
