Hello all, I am Paul from Rugby, UK. It was where the odd-shape ball game was invented, but not much else goes on here - slap bang in the middle of England.

My main interest is vintage turntables, particularly Transcriptors and early Michell, which I buy, restore and sell on (eventually) as a hobby. I would describe myself as a music fan and a lover of fine engineering and design, but not really a massive audiophile or purist. Perhaps it is my slowly failing ears (way too many gigs in the 80s and 90s) but to me diminishing returns sets in at a 'half decent' level and I am not rich enough to try and pursue audio 'nirvana'. I do though value a good turntable setup and love to chat to people about turntable projects, hopefully pick up some tips and maybe pass on a few of my own.

My current listening gear:

Transcriptor Hydraulic Reference/Fluid Arm/Shure V15 MkIV or Transcriptor Skeleton with SME Improved/Nagoaka MP11
Musical Fidelity V90-LPS Phono Stage
Yaqin VK-2100 Integrated Hybrid Valve Amplifier
Monitor Audio MA-6 Loudspeakers

Hi Paul. Welcome to AOS.

That sounds interesting, specialising in Transcriptors/Michell turntables. You may well find a few members wanting to pick your brains or ask for assistance with a project.

Tell us what music you like and if you have any plans in hand for your system.

Feel free to join in the chat. The members are friendly.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.

Hi Paul and welcome,
I've fancied a Transcriptor for a long time but know next to nothing about them and am very wary of buying a pup.
Lots of friendly people here, enjoy the forum.

Ian

Thanks for the welcome. The music I love is 1970 and early 80's rock, prog and hard rock. I also go for a bit of Britpop and Jazz. Fave bands: Budgie, Gong, Marillion, Blur to name a few. Happy to offer advice on Transcriptors and Ian if you are serious about buying one I list on Ebay as needle_and_grooves No whole turntables at the moment (here is a pic of a recent sale), but a couple in the pipeline. Also, if you are ever up my way you are welcome to come and see and hear one in action.https://thumb.ibb.co/itq4i5/20170410_110523.jpg (https://ibb.co/itq4i5)

Thanks for the offer Paul, I've got some plans to modify my currant tt but I could be led astray by a Transcriptor later in the year. :eyebrows:

Welcome to AoS Paul,

We have a few Transcriptors fans here - as well as Alex in "A Cockwork Orange".
