View Full Version : Classic B&W DM70 / Model 70 speakers
Having a bit of a clear out (not my idea though!!)
Very nice condition pair of Model 70's with 13" bass driver to 400Hz and electrostatic panel covering the rest of the frequency range.
Have been fitted with 8 Ohm Leak Sandwich drivers which is a big improvement over the stock items (more control but just as deep)
Will come with original bass drivers as well although they will need new surrounds before use.
See second picture for small bit of missing veneer.
If I had space to store them i would keep them but that is not the case.
£800 ovno Now £700
Collection IP23
Cheers

Lovely - I prefer the classical look of the DM70s over the DM70Cs. Good luck with the sale. :)

Thanks for the good wishes, although if I was going to keep them myself then I would remove the 'gold carpet' bass cabinet cover material and replace with something else.
I have continentals as well :)
Happy to bubble wrap and ship on a pallet if that helps.

Save the photo. Resize using an image editor, then repost at the desired size with an image hosting service. (well at least, that's how I do it :))
Double click on the attachment to get the enlarged image, then click on the enlargement and select 'Properties'. Swipe across the url and then 'Copy'. Thus: http://theartofsound.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=20164&d=1493727789
Then preceed the url with '' and terminate it with '[/url]'.

From the above there are a few ways to do this, it seems.
I right clicked on your photo (when it was enlarged), click on 'copy image address' and then paste that and surround it with square bracketed img /img.

Leak units are under-rated. Had a lovely ad with man (elephant foot, do I recall?) standing on the cone, to show how stiff it was.
Love my 3090s (and original Sandwiches)
Would love to hear some 3090's as ive only heard the 2075's

That was Harold Leak standing on the cone.
I'd also love to hear 3090's as I also only heard the 2075's. I can't agree on the original sandwich speakers though. Meh!
Stunning set!
If I was not in the middle of rebuilding a set of my own; B&W DM70c; rebuilding an Icon (http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?50077-B-amp-W-DM70-rebuilding-an-Icon) I bought them in no time.

It was about 1971, saw DM70 cabinets being made at Stevenson Blake in Sheffield.

Your rebuild is looking great, have you found a set of woofers yet? The same woofers are also in the Leak 600.

Yep, bought a set of 2060. But they are in such a great shape that I fell sorry to take them a part.
So for now I will use the original woofers until I found another set Leaks :D
Hi, Have you still got the DM70's and how are the treble panels?
Hi, still here. Panels are working as they should, they are a really tidy pair and better than my continentals but aesthetically I prefer the continentals hence the sale.

I could be really interested.
Just now I am buying a new house, so I would need that to be completed first.
I live in Somerset so it is a bit of a jaunt.
No problem, if you are still interested at a later date then please let me know.
Had a fair old jaunt myself when I bought them....Suffolk to Dumfries.
I should have my moving date very soon.
I would say about 1 1/2 months.
The house has a great basement.
Hi again
I hope that you managed to sell your speakers.
If not, you could always take a stall at the Audio Jumble if you have more to sell.
It is at Tonbridge on 17th Feb this year.
In the past I found it to be a very good way to have a clear out and get a reasonable price.
In the end I bought a smaller house than expected, so will stick to having just the one pair of DM70's.
In am now driving mine with an Art Audio to great effect.
They are only 15W but sound superb in triode mode with low feedback.
Good luck.
