Just bought a Sony ta1150 amp off jerry of this parish https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170430/d4c8ea19466f29c62195c4355ccd48aa.jpg I installed the Sony in place of my krell using my primare r32 and thorens td160 the Sony is 30watts into 8ohms .I was expecting the Sony being of 1973 vintage to sound warm and mushy compared to the krell, not a bit of it crystal clear mid range great detail timing superb I've gotten a shock as to how good this amp is bearing in mind jerry relieved me of just 140 quid delivered, have any other folks out there gotten a similar surprise as to how good vintage kit can sound.I initially got this amp for use with the telly but it sounds too good for that mundane duty.

Well, you can't say I didn't warn you in the ad .....

Rightly regarded by some as a precursor to the ES range.
This is fast and focused and detailed.
Those who want to wallow in a lovely rosy vintage glow should look elsewhere!

Good that you are enjoying it. :)

I get the same sort of kick out of my vintage Philips Black Tulip pre/power amps.
They put most of today's amps to shame, regardless of price imho.

I once bought a Sony TA88 amp. for a bedroom system.
It was used with a Sony ST80F tuner and a pair of JBL Control 1s. For a 10 watts per channel amp. its performance was really good.
Someone on an audio Forum called it 'The Japanese Nait.'
I don't know about that, but is performed beautifully with the above components.

Outstanding results Good on you.
Does Beg the question though.. Just how Crap were the sold on PX monos ?.
Mere curiosity only..as I remember that Sony Gizmo from back when.. friend had one... for some time.
Lotsa hours spent listening to it.
It worked well enough, but hardly breathtaking as I recall.
