Hi all,

I'm after an low/midrange DAC to replace a cheapo £8 one from Amazon. I need two DACs for my systems. I already have a Kramer 6410 which is old but sounds surprisingly good to me, so I'll be keeping that one, even if moved to the TV system.

If anyone's trying to shift an older low to midrange DAC I've got a budget of about £50. Maybe a very early Beresford? Or anything that's interesting (Chinese?) as I don't know a huge amount about it, but will happily take advice.

EDIT (thanks Grant, below). INPUTS: Optical input definitely needed (one or two). Coaxial input useful but not needed (I could come out of the CD player, but the DAC in that is already pretty nice). USB input not needed at all

My current set ups are here:

Thanks,
Sam

Guess you should state what connections you need

You could do a lot worse than the Fiio Taishan. Available from the usual online outlets for around £22. I use one for my TV and it sounds just fine to me. It can also be handily powered from your TV's USB sockets (assuming it has some), meaning one less trailing power supply.

I have a Beresford 7520 with original PSU doing nothing which you could have for £50 plus postage costs.

PM me for details if interested.

Hi all,

I've opted for Mikmas's Beresford 7520 which looks like it has plenty of scope for modding - might try the opamp bypass. Thanks for the other input and advice.
