Had time today for a play again and can now confirm they are working through the 4ohm taps on my Audio Innovations 500 integrated amp

Big sound , a bit boomie but will have a play with placement and rotation of the top pair of L1's

At the moment the lower pair are the correct way up and the top ones are upside down so the tweeters are as near as possible to each other

May hook up the John Wood amp as it has 4 ohm taps as well and more power :D20081

Click on the images and they get bigger :D

I'm sure It was the JBL L1 that I heard at Scalford a few years back. Thought they were very good.

What was the model number of the floor standing "big brother"?

Going back around 25 years now but think it might have been an L3.

Thanks Dave.

Did a quick bit of Googling and I think the models went like this: L1, L3, L5 and L7

They were all good fun. Not the last word in refinement but good 'rock n roll' speakers.

We often used them in a system with a Rega Planar-3 and Creek 4040 amp. For not much money, they produced a far better, more exciting sound than the reviewer recommended LP12/Ittok, NAD and Wharfedale Diamond speakers. We played the reviewers' choice and then 1/3 the cost, put on our choice and a sale was made, especially with the 12 inch singles we had back then..:smoking:

Just changed the AI 500 for the John Wood amp and they are now at another level :D

Still sounded a bit bass boomy , Tried port bugs , only the best M&S black 8-11 mens socks , No Primart here

Opps the speakers just spat out my socks  Uhh !
