Yes it is but I am so please Molly asked me to do this, thus in my tiny small way I can help the family of the man that helped me get though a crap time a few years ago. I was going to see him the morning he left us. (BUGGER)

Colin, I sent James my valve dac to borrow just a couple of weeks ago. Doesn't have a top on it, but it is the prototype of the Longdog Audio dac, and it's seen off many a dac over the last few years. Please sell it and give James' family the money.
I'd say a fair price would be around £400 or so.
It has a valve output stage with Bud Purvine transformers, which are not cheap!

Perhaps we could extend this further, maybe if anyone has unwanted gear that could be sold to add to the pot?

I dont know if its possible but is there a way to "retire" the user name - Sovereign ? Wouldn't be nice to have someone sign up under his tag.

I think a fitting tribute is to leave as is. AoS policy isn't to remove members who are no longer with us, for whatever reason, so James contributions here will be left as testimony to him for as long as AoS exists.

I agree.

I wasnt saying remove him, I was suggesting, as in sport when they retire a jersey number so no other player can wear the number a bit like Michael Jordons number for the chicago bulls.

As he will always remain a member no one can use his name Oliver

Sorry... Have I got this right? James has died?
I was only chatting with him the other week over PM. He said he wasn't very well but didn't go in to any detail.

Yes, I'm gutted. We used to be in contact regularly, both via forums and by phone.
That poor little girl...

Indeed. It certainly puts one's own trivial 'woes', in comparison, into perspective.... I simply can't look at that picture without welling up.

Kudos mate.
Sad beyond words at this, recently just heard about it.
it reverberates personally with me because James and I traded ideas on balanced mains kit yonks ago and only spoken with Him recently about speaker cable.
Traded forum posts too right back to Hifi Choice website (Pre Wigwam days)...long time to know someone without actually knowing someone.
My recent trip to pick up my new car was to Miadstone Kent, James' stomping ground and despite having thought about it (and dismissed it) I so wish now I'd got in touch to arrange a meet up.:(
Could have, should have, would have....lesson learned.
Also it brings home personal circumstances with my Dad, who's at that time.
RIP James, you were one of us.
Colin, I'll be looking at kit for Sale with an open wallet.

I've joined this forum to try to help Molly. I live locally to Molly and Chloe. I've taken photos of James' hifi kit and started a new thread here: http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?52391-Sale-for-James-Coltart-(Sovreign)-Post-1&p=877024#post877024
Any help with identification and offers of purchase greatly appreciated. Offers will be passed on to Molly to arrange payment/collection with her.
