Good question. The simple and superficial answer is that one is a professional precision tool that can be used in sophisticated home audio systems while the other is - generally speaking - a 'toy' which in a similar system will probably do more harm than good.
If you are looking for a boom-bash method of impressing friends and/or annoying the neighbours than this unit really isn't for you. No point in me kidding you!
If however you want to extract all the subtlety of your analogue and digital recordings, FM broadcasts, cassette and reel-to-reel performances and so on then this legendary unit is the finest money can buy.
