My email notifications for thread postings have stopped working.

I haven't knowingly changed anything and my settings are set at Instant notification.

I'm using "Thunderbird" if that makes any difference, but it has been working in the past.

Anyone give me a clue as to what it might be, as its a pain not knowing if someone has responded.

According to the backend you are set to automatically susbscribe to threads you reply to. I will check and see if there are any issues on the email generation side. Would be useful if others could post if there are or are not receiving email notifications. Ensure the send address for our emails is 'whitelisted' or on your safe-senders lists within your email client.

I am not getting e-mail notifications of PMs, I always used to and have not changed anything recently.

Make sure you've whitelisted us because we've not changed anything this end either. The notifications may be going into your Junk Mail folder.

I've never had to do anything like this before. What is the send address? I need to add?
Not going to junk mail.

The send address is contact@theartofsound.net

Thanks

I guessed it was that address.
I've added it to my personal address book, but from doing a google search I need to white list my address book and can't figure that out, or find instructions that match my menu options.

Well, I've added the AoS email address to my personal address book in Thunderbird, and checked that any sender listed there is not classed as junk within the settings.
I've also been into my account settings with my Hosting provider, I have my own URL and associated email accounts, and whitelisted the AoS email address.

Still not receiving notifications of postings/PM's.

Anything else I might try?

Can you try one of your other email addresses - a different domain ideally - and see if the notifications do come through on that new address?

It does look like the issue is not one that is impacting all users or all users in your group (which is the standard User Group).

Sent you a test email ken. Just to see if it goes through. Cheers

Ah, I can post now - the new email address needed verification, so I got that message ok, have to wait and see if thread notifications come through.

I PM'd you when I couldn't post, I'm using a Yahoo account and not my own url now.

Thanks for confirming Ken. I've enabled more detailed email logging so will be able to see exactly what email attempts are made by the system.

Ok, that's working, two notifications just came through.

I have the same settings in my email client (Thunderbird) for the old and new email addresses, so the problem probably lies with my Hosting site.

I will get on to them, thanks for the help.

Will switch back to the old address in the morning so my hosting company can see where it is being blocked and so I can spot when its fixed.

Glad your notifications are working now. Good luck with sorting out your domain host.

Yes they work with an old Yahoo account, but still won't come through on my URL email address. The help desk say they can't see any sign of messages being blocked. Funny thing is, I am getting messages from hifiwigwam on the same email address linked to my URL, without a problem.

They're still on it.

Thanks for the update. I know our email settings are standard for vBulletin and our server settings look fine in terms of whitelisting and reputation. Hope they can get to the bottom of it.

Got it sorted, received 117 messages this morning that were stacked up.

This is what my support team said;
"Found the issue - they should now be filtering through. Their site is on an e-mail blacklist so our spam filtering was stopping them. I've whitelisted the e-mail address so the issue shouldn't recur."

They could have saved you a load of aggro by checking that first.

Their blacklist will be out of date. We had an issue about 3 years ago where one email account on the server was compromised (weak password).

I now monitor all mainstream blacklists (weekly) and we are not listed.

Glad you got it sorted.

Yes, I've had problems receiving from AoS before, with another hosting services, seems once you get on a black list it takes for ever to be removed by everyone.

I seem to remember the problem was sorted almost immediately, and we are still feeling the effects from it.

Fingers crossed, that's the end of it.

Thanks for the support Nick.

Glad you seem to have sorted it, Ken :)
