Thorens suspension sponge keep or remove

Any quick question I hope

Just bought a wall shelf to take my Thorens TD-160 Mk1

The wall I will be mounting it to is brick and the only brick wall in my entire flat, so regarding the foam inserts in the suspension springs, leave them in or take them out.

personally, if is all working well at moment i'd leave it as is.

Remove, odds on its probably 30-40 years old by now, surely less effective than when new. I removed mine when I did up my old 160 and noticed Zero difference.

They are not the original sponges and are quite new, I just remember reading somewhere that the are only needed if footfall is an issue and not needed if the turntable is mounted on a solid wall shelf.

Can't find where I read it though.
