I had this double LP when I was a kid. Then, after switching wholesale to digital music, I gave the LPs away and replaced this album with a CD. But I was never satisfied with the transfer to digital, as the CD sounds somewhat anemic and thin.

Yesterday I finally managed to bump into the original pressing in a used record store. Brought it home, and despite scratches and pops, immediately heard how much better it sounds than the CD. The band is showing more muscle of the LP, Eric's voice is more grainy and hoarse, and everything has much more punch, kick and slam.

My favourite track on this LP -- "Spirit".

A good vacuum record cleaner will get ride of most of that.

Local records shops are charging between $2.50 to $4.00 per record for cleaning.
