Went out this afternoon with my buddy Steve vinyl junky popped into Tesco and lo and behold dagostini have started publishing Beatles albums on 180gm vinyl with lots of useful information about each album and great photos aswell introductory price of £9.99 with ABBEY ROAD as the first album anyone else seen or heard this album apparently it's the 2009 remastered series which are supposed to be very nice and well mastered. Thoughts please chaps!!!

Hi Pete,me and the boss have just returned from A--A ,saw it there,we both remarked on it being 180gm pressing for a tenner -you can,t get vexed at that. Then we said it would be a lot better if they were re-issue Stones catalogue -sorry to whoever but neither of us ever cared much for the Beatles, but brilliant to those who do! Hi Grant my thoughts aswell I have a 3rd press abbey road and looking forward to comparing
It will be typical dagostini though, 9.99 for the first issue then all the rest will be 24.99 unless there are any double albums and they will be even more, then after a couple of months they disapere from the news agents and you have to go direct via a subscription, you then find the small print signs you up for all sorts of paid for junk you dint want, then issues will be missed or the same issue will be sent twice.
Typical dagostini
Might try to find the first edition though, even though I have never liked them.
my remaster is better than the 69 copy Steve.

If it's these ones with the green and black label on the plastic film wrapper then they are very good.

got white too. got a few beatles albums i think still. i sold some a while back but kept some back. I like Abbey Rd, MMT and White especially, but tbh never listen to them. got a few on cd too lol. Thats the trouble with having to many records; many never get played.
edit.. it will likely just be the bigger stores

If you make a total of all the issues you end up with a figure of 455.77 the 2009 vinyl stereo set is available on amazon for 322.03 it doesn't make any sense

Well just played abbey road and indeed it's well mastered. I would have loved to compare it against a mint first press but I guess that's never going to happen.

Picked up the introductory issue and Abbey Road from a newsagent for 9.99 yesterday. Won't be subscribing though as I've already got a few of the others on either vinyl or CD and I no longer worry about being completist in any format.

Hi Rich let me know what you think of the quality of said album mine is slightly warped nothing major doesn't effect sound quality.
As a wise sage once said KEEP YOUR RECEIPT

Played my copy of the said album and I noticed a slight honk in the bass on here comes the sun only problem I haven't got a reference point for this as I only have this copy of abbey road the rest of the album was superbly mastered to my ears

Tried to buy the first issue, non of my local news agents have it or intend stocking it.
Did a 16 mile round trip to Hartlepool and the closest WHSmith branch. They have sold what they initially had, the checkout girl told me the manager had said they wouldn't be restocking, something to do with poor take up. I find this annoying as the TV advert is still running for the first issue.
I have a good first pressing of Abbey Road (Stereo only) and wanted to compare the quality before signing up for the set, which now isn't going to happen. :steam:
Would have been nice to have a complete set in stereo, most of my Beatles albums are First or Second press Mono and I don't have a Mono cartridge to do them justice.
I was impressed with the Jazz series quality, but had similar issues in getting hold of individual copies of even the first two issues.
Hi Ken do you want me to try and pick it up for you? Will be in N/castle tomorrow [ probably] , hopefully be able to pick up a copy for you Mick

Hi Ken I will also like Mick keep a lookout for the first edition. I almost missed out on the miles Davis record on the jazz collection and managed to get the last one in the post office. FWIW I think you will prefer the original 1st press album I know I do just more of that analogue warmth and a lot closer to how it should sound.
Hopefully you will get something sorted soon

Hi Steve would love to replace Let it Bleed [loaned out ,never came back]Aftermath and Satanic Majesties-both badly worn and barely playable. Can only hope but doubt it will happen Cheers Mick

Nice bit of info there Ian looks like the triple albums are going to be priced the same as a double. It would be great if they did a series on 60's and 70's rock/prog bands now that really would be collectible
