hi , my name is james
32 years old musical tastes vary from pounding techno(not so much any more ) , laid back electronica (air, goldfrapp, and lately lemon jelly are my top favs) right back to the sixties such as the kinks m just bought my first beatles album in the last month and presently listening to the mama's and papa's on the stereo!

my stereo journey started at about 18 when i purchased a nad 310 (brilliant amp ) it's still changing hands on ebay for about what i paid for it and i still have it!!

I coupled this a few years later with a marantz cd 52 mkii , which i aquired off a student for a very good deal (something like 50quid 14 years ago)
The speakers in those days were JBL's i can't remember what happened them i think i blew them up at a party (those were the days!)
A few years ago i purchased some monitor audio bronze bookshelve type- great speakers for a snip over 200 quid. I had a computer based system back then , so this coupled with the nad quite well although not outstanding it served my purpose well by giving reasonable sou nd and not getting me any asbo's for noise pollution !!

About a year ago I purchased a valve amp kit (I've always wanted one!) and so my stereo journey really took off ! It was still coupled to the marantz and the monitor audio's but i could tell straight away that it was far superior to anything i had before !

Next up was a pair of good speakers - I toyed with the idea of lowthers but the price really put me off !A few missed ebay auctions and a lot of research later i setttled for an american set of 8 inch drivers which were as claimed by the vendor to be lowther replicas at a fraction of the cost .

Enclosures were built( not painted yet -still deciding on the colour), next on the agenda and quite by accident was either a new cd plyer or something to modernise my old cd player . I looked at cyrus cd players for a while and put it off until i found the beresford 7520 (great great piece of kit) which would allow me to move back to my computer based system eventually !!

so here i am up to date where i head next i'm not sure but i'll try and keep this up to date(actually just purchased the parts for a LM3886 solid state based amp today )

I will shortly be posting photo's of my system onto the gallery!

Hi & Welcome James - might be best if one of the mods moved your post and mine into the Welcome area, where hopefully a few more people will drop in to say Hi, and have fun!
