i may have asked this before but how hard would it be to replace a tt's bearing sleeve to remove side ways movement?
would it be a simple task to have an engineering firm make one?
It should be an easy enough job, but I doubt it will be cheap.

If you can measure the inside and outside diameter and length and look on the bearing boys website.

The easiest way is to overbore the bearing and press bushings in or if it's bushed, extract these and replace. These can be reamed to the correct clearance. Quite a few TTs only have a bush at the top and bottom of the bearing anyway.
A lot would depend on the construction and the materials involved. Sintered bearing sleeves in an irregular shaped housing would be harder than a regular shaped brass bearing. What turntable are we talking about here?

I wasn't suggesting brass or sintered steel. Phosphor Bronze would be my choice.
just had a look at it and it seems a very simple affair,its just a brass or bronze tube pressed into a hard plastic mounting collar.

Looks like a tubular bronze bearing with the plastic housing moulded around it. There's not a lot of 'meat' on the bronze, but with a lathe and a bit of care, it could be bored wide enough to accept turned down phosphor bronze bushes. A none too tight press fit is what I'd aim at, to avoid splitting the tube. Bearing locking adhesives can be used to secure bushes.
However. Is there much slack with the bearing 'as is'? Using a thicker oil can tighten things up.
its seems fine without the platter on,when you rock the platter you can see it moving very easily but then you have more leverage ,as they say a picture (video) says a thousand words!

That's too much play. Are you sure it's not the entire motor base that is loose and moving?
