View Full Version : Wanted: B&W DM70 woofers and stands/feet
I'm on the brink of starting a restoration project: B&W DM70
These have always been on my bucket list.
For this project I'm looking for the following items:
2x B&W DM70, DW13/70 woofer
2x Metal stands / feet
Thanks!
Are these the standard DM70s or the continental version? I remember lusting after both as a teenager. Never did get to hear them.

These are the Continental, in white.
I will open up a restoration topic soon.

I may have seen your speakers being made, Stevenson Blake (Sheffield) were the cabinet makers. Whilst I was at their factory in the early 70's I saw a pair of Continental DM70 cabinets being finished.
I have an idea that the woofers may have been made by EMI.

Great story!

They were EMI. The 15" bass driver had been on the EMI catalogue for a good few years before B&W decided on it. If I recall B&W added damping pads to the cones.
I know I've got the EMI driver brochure somewhere with these in. Probably got the B&W DM70 brochure too! :)

Thats good. With the standard ones for true authenticity you'd need a tweed jacket with leather elbow pads and a pipeful of St Bruno Flake, but with the continentals you should be able get away with a black polo-neck.

There is a company in Germany that rebuilds that Electrostatic Panel.

Yep, I know.
The set I've bought have already rebuild Electrostatic panels :)
Wauw! News travels fast!
Today I was offered a set of DM70 Standard.
Downside: Model standard, not the right pair of feet, painted black :spew:
Upside: fully rebuild Electrostatics, filters and woofers.
I can swap them for another pair of speakers I have plus some additional money from my side.
Leaves me to find a pair of feet or a drawing tot build them muself.
I much prefer the traditional looks of the standard DM70. And you're right, the legs would look wrong painted black.

I'm picking up the Continental version today and then I know what I need exactly.
I've been in contact with the German company that restores these DM70, lots of help and useful info they gave me.
