I made one purchase at the Bristol show. A new cork turntable mat from MCRU for £15 (http://www.mains-cables-r-us.co.uk/turntable-mats-record-clamps/439-mains-cables-r-us-record-mat.html). I've spent an hour or so swapping between it and my current rubber mat on my Linn LP12. My conclusion is that I prefer the new cork mat. It has better attack with notes starting and stopping a little more sharply. Not bad for such a small outlay.
