Whilst waiting for the pioneer to be fixed i spotted this on gumtree,after a short drive down to Southampton she's up and running.not a bad tt at all.
Its not in mint condition but speed is stable,it needs a good clean and polish but still a bargin for £45.
One nice feature of the tonearm is you can adjust VTA on the fly,i wish more arms had this feature,it would make setting the 2m black up a doddle.

Thats a bargain price. Looks pretty clean for the price Jamie. Love that arm set up.

That series of TT is, in my opinion, one of the best TTs I've ever heard. The PS-X65/70/75 are unbelievably good and that tonearm is impeccable.
£45 is ludicrous.

yes im surprised no one else bought it,(dantheman91's area)it had been on for 9 hrs before i saw it,the tonearm alas is a slightly less refined pua-9,i like the die cast plinth so i may spend some time and money on it getting it back to tip top condition .
it came with a spare headshell and cartridge too,

This is an absolute bargain! These TTs are around 400 on German ebay. Not very popular in the UK, though. I bought a PS-X65 and then had it serviced (yes I have absolutely no technical skills). With the rewired tonarm it sounds very nice. I fitted Denon DL-110 on it and had a side by side comparison with a Rega RP6 with another DL-110. I slightly preferred Sony, a bit more punchy I would say. I also tried DL-103R which sounds very nice on that tonearm (certainly better than on RB303, effective mass maybe?) and now have Benz Ace fitted. I could not get rid of distortion in one channel with Benz on Rega - the cart needs very fine azimuth adjustment which is difficult on Rega. I tried washers between Rega headshell and Benz but while I was able to dial the azimuth correctly, the washers killed all musicality IMO. No such a problem with the Sony tonearm - you can adjust the headshell for azimuth without any problems.
By the way, the headshell alone (SH-165) is worth around 60 quid...

A great find at that price, I just sold a Sony PS-X75 Biotracer turntable and was quite surprised how well made it was plus the ease of use and decent sound quality. Still have a Sony PS-X70 and the Sony 55XL mc cartridge which is pretty good but needs a good head amp.
I used to collect vintage Sony VFET amps, tuners and portable pro reel to reel machines, very well designed and solidly made classics gear that would cost a fortune if built these days.

between the 2 i should be able to make one in mint condition,this one has no wobbly bearing,mint tonearm,but just stopped working,stands me in about £120,only downside is its coming from the states .

its the tonearm that does it for me Oliver,i love the fact that you can adjust bias and vta on the fly.

Glad you appreciate the virtues of on the fly vta - Been banging on about on the fly vta adjust for years.
With certain carts it literally is the difference between adjusting to hear them at their best or struggling big time to achieve that.
As you now know Jamie it's a God send for carts that are sensitive to vta adjust / set up like the Shibata clad Blacks and I believe that some of the high end replicant profiles are even more fussy :eek:.
Either way, the ease of adjust is a joy.
Loved it when my Techie was stock, one of the best features on the stock Techie if you ask me (aside from it's quartz locked dd drive system of course :) )
I wouldnt be without the feature to be honest particularly as i'm a shameless Ortofon Shibata fan boy :D

I haven't owned one but I have heard a couple now. I know a lot of people love them and they are good value but Alan has taken his off his TT and prefers his VDH retipped Linn cart which cost the same.
Plenty of Body, bass and midrange. Good level of detail but not the final word. IMO.

Popular and have a long established reputation for boogie factor, again WHEN set up correctly. They require a fair amount of mass and to the headshell.
Will be pretty different to the 2MB. Some people really love them, some not so much - Marcos ya man when it comes to the 103, he has loads of experience with them in all their versions :)

Jamie I have a DL-103R on my PS-X65. It is a nice match, but I think the cart might sound even better if the tonearm was a bit heavier. Perhaps I'm a bit of a bass freak and my Benz really delivers in this category. Anyway just out of interest I fitted the 103R on the Rega to see what's wrong with sticking it on RB303, well now I know :) It plays, but not as good as on the heavier Sony.
But I'm keeping 103R, I just need another Sony headshell because swapping the carts with a single headshell is killing me.
Superb looking decks, never seen them before but I want one!
Worth putting a 110 stylus on that Nagaoka MP11 n' all. Really good cartridge that.
