The Vinyl Adventure

I'm sat in my new bathroom having a fag out the window my arms my leg and especially my back really hurts. There are boxes and crap everywhere, this is the only room that is now tidyish!
If I ever say on this forum "I'm moving house again" I want someone to show me this thread in an atempt to remind me how I feel right now

check this out though, we got a chair in the bathroom... I also just found a phone socket under the sink... How bloody random!! We are going to embrase the oddness and make this green chair the place to go to use the phone in peace!

Me And the Wife Vicky always have our best conversations in the bathroom, it's a place to chill out and away from the kids, so a comfy chair instead of the bog seat is a bonus(if only)

I think we need a TV series, "Hamish World" - you just couldn't make it up, could you?! ;)

I said in another thread that I feel the same, (and that is after 5 years) - moving house is officially pants - enjoy your bog haven Hamish! :)

As long as you don't get the two muddled up - grunting out the accountant is gonna end in tears (*or a large bill!)

Almost done, just got my office to move out the old house and sort out the spare room and get someone to come and take 14 bin bags of crap and a load if old carpet to the tip then I gotta sort out the rest of the utilitys and change my address with god knows how many banks web sites etc ... One thing at a time I guess... For now though everything can wait until Monday - I'm gonna get pissed for a few days I think!!

I am actualy feeling rather delirious now, I'm gonna eat a pork pie have a wisky and coke my 438th cigarete for the day and then pass out!

Can't get any peace in our house, even with two bogs........

Not bad this morning though, just me, the laptop and some Mark Grant wires running in with the amps switched off.

Hamish, I feel for you, but it'll soon sort itself out and you can give up smoking (killed my Mum and passive smoking killed my Dad, who died of a passive smoking related cancer)...

I was just thinking that if Hamish keeps the cigs up and the drinking, his next move won't require the shifting of property and possessions (God forbid). Hows about giving the Nicotine up for the new year, new house and new life there in.

Glad I never started smoking.

A house move for me would be a massive undertaking....just thinking about it fills me with dread....not that its going to happen any time soon God forbid.

Nightmare, Dave - I feel for ya :(

Like Neil, smoking is something I never started (thank God!). No-one in our family smokes either. I took one puff of a fag in school once, as I was offered it by a mate, and thought 'yeeeugh, what the f*ck's that pish all about?' :spew: and promptly handed the offending cancer stick back to him! That didn't stop me chomping on a few magic mushies or toking on hash, though... Fortunately though it didn't waste my brain too much, errrrm, ahem......

Yep, Hamish, try to take Neil's advice and give up the horrible, filthy habit. You're still young - trust me, how you treat your body in your younger years reflects how you feel and what quality of life you have when you're older...... Enjoy yourself but don't abuse booze too much!! ;)

And just think how much hi-fi or music you can buy with the money you save on fags!! :eyebrows:

I smoked serioulsy off and on for over twenty years but havn't had one for over a year i know how hard it can be to give up, rollups are my downfall, the smell gets me salivating:lol:

Oh, FFS! :spew: :spew:

If my wife even so much as catches the briefest whiff of fag, she's off to throw up in the bog.... She's worse than me and absolutely can't stand them. Her major bug-bear is folk who drop their fag ends on the ground, or ashtrays in pubs (before the smoking ban) heaving with spent fag ends.

I remember when we lived in Scotland, one of my mates (a smoker) leaving a fag end on top of the bog, and Del walked in and found it... I've never seen anyone get their arse booted out of the house with a flea in their ear so quickly in all my life, and she's only five foot 2 and a size 8!

I hate everything about cigarettes, but (health issues aside), particularly the way they make your clothes stink and your fingers and teeth go yellow and stained with nicotine, and the bad breath they cause. Oh, and smoking also ages you too, prematurely, giving you wrinkles.

Anyway, enjoy your fags today, guys!! :lolsign:

Marco.

Once I have my studio set up and the house move complete it is on the cards.. It's such a bugger to quit though!! It just a shame that I do actually enjoy it - not a much as I used to mind..
I don't actually smoke that much these days, nit that I'm trying to justify it as such but I (when not so stressed) am down to maybe 5 a day.. When I was 20 I was on 20+

The smoking ban has pretty much wrecked the night time economy. There was a compromise on the table but the fascist imposition of the majority view had to occur even in places where non-smokers are a minority.
If non-smokers kept their promise to patronise the places where they had got their way we wouldn't be seeing so many pub closures up and down the country.

What I find far more unhealthy in the grand scheme of things is the urge to meddle in other people's affairs; if you never go into a particular place you have no right to impose your pious, bigoted will on those who do.

I hope the new decade will herald a new era of tolerance and respect but somehow I doubt it.

Hamish will give up the ciggies when he's good and ready. In the meantime he does not need the meddlesome to tell him what to do.

I still enjoy the odd fag, all outdoors unfortunately.

I've never smoked, but both my parents did. After the tax had reached unaffordable (to them) levels, it was a case of give up the fags or give up the booze. The booze won. They simply stopped smoking one day, and never bought or smoked another cigarette.

I see the anti-smoking lobby has come out in force on this thread :steam:

Alcohol costs this country more than smoking ever has. How many people are arrested on a Friday/Saturday might for smoking related offences? Go to any casualty dept on the same nights, and how many people are there because of violence or other things due to smoking too much. How many people are killed every year from driving after smoking tobacco? How much domestic violence is smoking related?

Sorry, but I HATE anti-smokers. I don't dare tell you how to live your life, so how dare you tell me or other people how to.

The only thing worse than an anti-smoker is an anti-smoker who drinks. Hypocrites!

And if this post gets me banned, then so be it.

Sorry Hamish for hijacking your thread. Only I didn't. The anti-smoking brigade did.

I'm gonna go have a smoke while I try to calm down . . .

I don't drink, I don't do sex, I don't do drugs. I ENJOY smoking. Leave us alone!!

Hahaha.... No bloody chance will you be banned, Kris! You're entitled to your strong views on this subject as I am to mine, my friend. We don't ban people on AoS for being passionate about their beliefs (providing that they're legal)!!

You'll only get banned from here for being deliberately disrespectful, out-and-out trolling, and/or acting like a total cock ;)

Some have managed to successfully combine all three!

Jon,

You mean to tell me that you havn't tried a naughty fag in your life then, not that i endorse any such behavior.

If by "naughty fag" you mean a joint/spliff, then God yes - plenty of times! :eyebrows:

If you mean just a normal fag, then defo NO. I don't see the point, as it does nothing for me whatsoever.

I personally would say it's not the drug that makes a person a cock it's the person
I know plenty of coke users that use it recreationally in the odd weekend here and there and they for the most part are fine. I know a few coke users who are right cocks mind, when they take it... Well there are a lot off words...

I personally have no issue with people using any drugs, human being have been taking drugs for a long time. ok the chemical modern ones are perhaps a little less natural but they are still the same idea! It's what one is like as a human being outside of the drug taking that has the biggest effect on the drug taking it's self! Depresion or adictive personality can lead to problems, doing the drugs to be part of a crowd or to be cool is usually a bit daft and pretty much doing it for any type of escapeism... Also people who are just tossers shouldn't do it!
Know what your doing, be sencible, in a safe environment and what's the harm?

Just to add to the smoking debate, I gave up 2 years (and 4 stone) ago today, which was the right time to do it for me (smoked for 20+ years, 30 a day, proper smoker) - I used the stop smoking pills Champix - really helped - I'd tried loads of different things before. I still love the smell of a freshly lit fag, and aint gonna become an antismoker ex-smoker - if you've never been a smoker, you can't understand!
