Ortofon MC25FL Cartridge for sale, with Stylus Guard, this used to belong to Struth who bought it from Walpurgis. I have no idea of total hours but I used it for roughly 50-60 or so as I had a ZU Denon 103 and a 2m Blue at the same time to play with.

Only selling as I moved onto an AT 33PTG II, which has now been usurped by a ZYX R100H.

No box but will be safely packaged and sent fully insured next day delivery for £155 (UK Only)

I should really keep it as its a superb cartridge and easily holds its own and some would say beat modern day models, but I fancy new toys and need to accrue some funds.

Thanks for looking,

Mike.

Thanks, yeah it is rather good, I've no real need of a spare cart or else is just keep it.

If it doesn't sell I might offload my AT instead but would rather sell this first.

Aye, most of the likely candidates have just bought something, the AT cart I have might go too 😉

Indeed, its a very nice example.. getting pretty rare in this condition... maybe should keep it as it will go up in value

I did think about that, might keep it yet, not desperate to sell, I can afford to keep it as well as the AT PTGII and my current favourite the Zyx r100H.

Just didn't want to get a reputation as a cart hog, jammy git will do instead 😁

Rumour has it that it cost Ortofon more to build the MC25FL than the selling price asked. Probably just an urban myth, but it's a pretty good cartridge nonetheless.

This would be a superb move. The Ortofon is very good. (I am reliably informed).

Not wrong there Grant, I've moved up to an £800+ cart that suits my system better. But in all honesty there's not a lot in it, this is a very good cartridge and deserves to be played rather than sit on a shelf.

Only bought it for it's looks and was local 😉

I need to get the 774 output cable resoldered it's broken away from the tab underneath the arm mount, but apart from that it will fit straight on and TT runs fine if a little noisy, but pressing slightly on one of the buttons at the side stops this. I've no real reason to try it other than I'd like to see it running, have no real use for it but it's a shame to have it sitting doing nothing.

I'm not really one to buy things and just put away, don't see the point, much rather see someone using it.

If you're soldering to the base of the red socket. Use a properly hot iron, but as briefly as possible to avoid melting the plastic.

It's the little printed circuit board that sits under the red female plug I need to solder onto so should be easy enough, is that the one you mean?

Ah. That should be OK. Same principle applies there though. Using too much heat for too long can lift PCB tracks from the board.

It's correct thread I'm lacking, don't wanna bugger the internal thread as that is all that holds the arm pillar rigid to the baseplate ;)

struth
09-04-2017, 13:09
True. If you cant find one you might have to recut the thread to something you can use. Spare parts dont seem easy to get

I've had it on my Mission 774 and my Fidelity Research FR64FX arms and sounded pretty good on both. Which would suggest is suited to a wide range of arms.

Not sure if I should just keep it as sell my other 2 spare carts and just have this one as backup and sell off my more expensive spares [emoji6]

A very fine cartridge, I've had a couple. And not that fussy in my experience - quite easy to get a very good sound from.
