Yes another Lancashire lad here. A long-time lurker who has decided to contribute at last.

Having a little un in the house has meant that for the last few years I have been exploring the world of music through headphones and a lot of fun it has been. After much swapping and trying I am happy with my current ones and now the little one is no longer little I have started to build up my hifi again.

I have always dipped into this forum as I have always fancied one of the Beresford DACS and have followed its’ progress from the 7510 to the Caiman. As you can see I have just bit the bullet and treated myself to one from the classifieds section here.

So my current kit is (will be)

Merdian 200 transport
Beresford Caiman DAC
Sony QS amplifier
Gale GS301 Speakers

Little Dot MKIV headphone amplifier
AKG K701 headphones

Musical tastes include Dylan, Nick Drake, Joni Mitchel, Beastie Boys, Air, Chemical Bros, Orbital, Pink Floyd, Ryan Adams, Madeline Peyroux, Joanna Newsom, Pendulum, ACDC, Greig, Mahler, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Tangerine Dream, Mike Oldfield……….blah blah……you get the idea I’m up for trying anything.

I’m not very experienced in the technical matters so am here to learn. I’m sure I can contribute in other ways though.

Beltin! Speak to you soon.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Sorry but Shippy would really not suit me. The name is Phil.

I'll be pestering you all for musical suggestions this year as I have spent enough dosh on hifi for now and am at a bit of a stalemate with the music. Looking for a new direction at the moment. Been trying to go along the jazz road by listening to Herbie Hancock and some of the 'Best of Acid Jazz' cds. Got my foot tappin but not my heart skippin....yet.

Do you use Spotify?
If I make some suggestions, I can link to them there. If you like what you hear, you can buy it later (.........or not!)

Spotify is one of the best things to happen to music in the last 10 years - love it.

Please do fire away with your suggestions. I can't promise a full in depth review but it really will be appreciated. Music to me is like art - I don't know much about it but I know what I like.

Welcome aboard Phil - as someone with a little 'un I know what you mean about being restrained somewhat, though I still daren't go the headphone route too much as I would be too worried I wouldn't hear what my 15 month old monster is up to! I can wholeheartedly support your Caiman decision though! And this one:

Spotify is one of the best things to happen to music in the last 10 years - love it.

I signed up as a Premium member - best £10 a month I've ever spent! I'm thinking we ought to be setting up some AoS shared playlists that we could all collaborate on? Another thread... but, great tastes you've got - Air in particular being one of my favourite bands ever.

Enjoy the forum, glad to have you on board.
