Time for a bit of a clearout, I have a newer version of this excellent DAC so this is now surplus to requirements.
Can be used as a headphone amp, fixed output to amp/preamp, variable output to power amp. RCA and balanced outputs.
Metal bodied remote control. Slight mark on top of casework. BNC to RCA adaptors included, no mains cable.

Surely there's no way this in balanced mode could beat my MF trivista with rca??

Arrived today and set it up, initially with my integrated to check the volume before plugging it into my class d power amp. Good job I did as it was set up in dac mode not preamp. Once I learned how to set it as a pre amp it went into my power amp. Nice feature that it remembers the volume setting when switched off, I've had dacs that didn't and was always worried I would blow something.

Anyway, I've not been 100% happy with my passive into the class d amp as I think there is an impedance mismatch, no such worries with this. Halfway through telegraph road and I remembered I was supposed to be analysing its performance I had completely forgot. That about sums it up, very musical and a dac for those who want to enjoy the music not the source. As with many such components if you spend hours A/B'ing them you'll find faults but why bother? And for the money its a no brainer. David, please let me know how the new version is, I might want to get one myself, although slightly wary the Sabre dac may take away from the musicality and get lost in detail. Thanks for the dac anyway.

Hi Lawrence, glad you're enjoying the DAC. The newer version, mine is from 2015 (I didn't need the Bluetooth of the 2016 version as I already have an excellent Audioengine Bluetooth receiver) sounds very similar, perhaps a tad more refined and detailed. Cosmetically the unit is better finished and has a few exrra facilities, DSD and some digital filter options. If you're enjoying the DAC as it is I'm not sure that the upgarde is worth it.
