My silver JVC T-X1L that is now little used and with space being at a premium as always, it needs to go to a good home. Works perfectly even off a piece of wet string, as we used to say and offers a crisp and clear sound with very low background noise.

Interesting feature of this tuner is the set of two scales - one FM and the other MW/LW which illuminate only when you are using that frequency range. All bulbs, tuning aids and scale pointer light work fine.

This tuner might suit if you have a 1979 and onwards retro system and of course matches the JVC X1 and other amps from that time. I don't want much for it, just a few drinking vouchers, say £10? Carriage is the problem of course so rather than see it go to waste and I certainly can't bin it, tell me if you are near(ish) and I am happy to meet up.

I don't need it but can't bin it - criminal really! Is this likely to be of any interest to anyone?

I love tuners, especially the ones with funky, heavyweight flywheels.
I love the lights.
I love the buttons and features.

Trouble is, I generally only listen to talkSPORT and 5Live so anything non-DAB drives me nuts :)

I would love a bank of the things though - they'd look really Blake's 7 all wired up and switched on together, I reckon :eyebrows:

as a collector of this era...I quite like the signal strength leds.
a lot of Japanese tuners from this period will light all the lamps from the merest whiff of a prog.

this then gives the illusion of high sensitivity.......looks like a sansui I occasionaly fire up.....related??

NIGE.

Yeah, I had a Sony tuner and a Technics receiver that both did that, despite having the static noise clearly audible when five green bars were showing :D

It'll light 5 green LEDs with a good signal and is then quiet; 2 or 3 lit and you can listen but would look for a better signal really.

I like the look too and am keeping a black one for the moment as it colour matches everything else. And yes, 5live on AM reminds me of transistor radios long ago!

Relay it up and down country? Barely worth it I know, but still...

I travel to Drby and Kettering on Saturday, back on Sunday. Anyone on that route interested?
