I heard Alans monoblocks at his place 2 weeks ago and they sounded ( and looked ) superb . I've been '' plotting ' on how to get the money to buy them ever since :)

Nice, I've always liked the brushed look on casework. I miss the glowing valve of your proto, but guess that could be a safey issue.

If this is one of the mono blocks Alan is building for me, I asked him to place the valve internally so that my Daughter cannot touch it.

I believe Alan decided to put them internally anyway so they could be stacked if needed. This may have changed since we spoke though.

Had the pleasure of listening to these myself, their fantastic!!!

If I had the spare cash Alan would be a very busy man.

That would be another good reason.
I will miss out on seeing the valve glow, but it is a small price to,pay for the sound quality that these should deliver.

Perhaps Alan could install one of these in each amp.

That way you would still be able to bask in the glow!

Silly t*t :rfl:

You can still see the valve through the top ventilation slots ......................:eyebrows:

I have been listening to the "Firebottle Monos" for just over an hour. Compared to my back up amplifier (Arcam Alpha 10P) these are fantastic. So much more texture and detail, depth and control of the bass. I am very happy with these. It will take something special to beat them, and that will probably be out of my budget.

The business end now looks like this:

Visually very appealing and after hearing them I can completely agree with your assessment. So much so, I am now saving towards the same amplification. Very excellent indeed.

There is no way I could send these back, so the funds have been transferred and they are now officially mine.
The listening session last night was enough to convince me this was the right decision.

Being brutally honest, I am not overly keen on the plaque on the front, but when you power these up and start to listen you soon forget about them. I have purchased these using my ears rather than my eyes.

I hope that others get to hear what they are capable of as they are superb, especially when partnered with the KIN. I am very happy with my system now, and will start to look at minor tweaks to optimise what I have. Where did I put my cable lifter catalogue?

I was referring to the overall visual. Kin & Monos. I agree the plaque isn't quite as nice as the etching on the KIN so maybe I'll ask for them to be etched on mine next year, maybe (?) Lol

Surely it can't cost THAT much !!!

It would need a different case.
The case is of a high quality, and I guess that the plaque covers the volume control area. The plaque is also good quality, and does not come across well in the photos.

When the music is playing it is easy to forget this really minor point.

Ah, I see. Very clever use of the plaque then. Guess it's staying on then lol

Maybe the logo discs could be replaced with a "mock" volume control and a scale that goes up to 11! :)

Almost a week on, and after a weekend of spinning small and big discs, I think that my upgrade journey is coming to an end. The amplification side is certainly sorted. Realistically, I can't afford to get something that will better this combo until my daughter is much older. Priorities are shifting, and I am still enjoying what these amps do driving my FH3s.

I doubt I will get a 2nd turntable (even though it would be nice to have a Gyro/Orbe or a Nottingham Analogue deck, or maybe an LSD....). My CD player is reasonable, as is the DAC. I may have a bit more of a play with the mains to convince myself it does or does not make a difference, and then it is time to sit back with a glass of a local red or a single malt, and enjoy the tunes.

I actually like the simple lines. It's just the contrasting colour of the logo disc!
