WAD PRE 2 & PHONO 2 with Joint PSU VERY Heavily Modded
An incredible Pre2 / Phono2 & Power Supply Unit
together, real synergy and quite unbeatable at this price...
I have had this MC Phono Unit up against 2K + units in a bake off and this really held it's own.
These were built by a competent fettler
Cases could do with a little attention but nothing serious at all and the face plates are very nice!
Changes to Pre II, Phono II and PSU
heavily modified PreII, PhonoII and PSUII could be likened to the upgraded versions, albeit have gone much further and used more expensive parts.
PSU
Upgraded with Soniqs, Russian Teflon, Elna Cerafine Caps and Kiwame resistors
Choke upgrade. Maxed out and mounting an even larger choke outside the case (on top)
Pre II
highly effective 'pseudo mono' power supply upgrade
Converted to Cathode Follower (CF) configuration
Obliggato Caps (gold premium film)
2 x 5W & 2 x 2W Kiwame resistors
Elma rotary selector switch
Panasonic Black volume potentiometer
Short signal runs to Elma switch by shifting switch and volume pot to rear
Potentiometer shunt mod using 2 x Shinkoh Tantalum resistors
Mullard E88CC valve
Phono II
Tweaked to alter the RIAA curve for closer matching and
added cathode bypass caps to the first valve cathode resistors
2 x Cinemag transformers
2 x Sanyo OsCon caps
2 x Jupiter Beeswax caps
3 x General Electric 5751 valves
2 x AmpOhm 10uF caps
Loads of fancy resistors
