Annie Sloan to the rescue.

It is that time of year again for routine maintainance of my beloved hi-fi system whereupon i dismantle everything, give it a clean and sort anything that i feel needs doing. Doing so i noticed the effects of my clumsiness and the ware and tear brought about by a few years worth of placing, replacing and the general movement of equipment upon my two Usher equipment racks. scratches, gouges, dinks and bumps, what a mess?
So, having recently attended a couple of Annie Sloan chalk painting workshops i thought what the hell, i can't make any more of a mess of them than they already are. so i set about the task of disassembling the racks and cleaning the shelves with some sugar soap. having texture finishing the top shelf i roller finished the rest. as i write the shelves are all out in the garage awaiting my tired cold ass to go and wax finish them before reassembly. I have no doubt that cupboard paint and the likes would be just as good but for now Annie Sload really has come to the rescue. I will keep you posted on the finishes item.:):painting:

You do realise that cleaning the magic dust off the system has a detrimental effect on the sound?

Yes it might sound cleaner but to me its more sterile and I prefer the more organic and natural sound a smattering of dead skin cells and pet fur adds to the sound.

Yes it might sound cleaner but to me its more sterile and I prefer the more organic and natural sound a smattering of dead skin cells and pet fur adds to the sound.

Ok here goes...I am well chuffed with the fruits of my labour.here are some pictures of my refurbished racks. from a scratched fairly knackered sun bleached finish to something a little more funky and in-keeping with the rest of my room.

Reassembled my kit on the Usher racks and it really was worthwhile. if you are suffering from a shabby rack (ooh err) don't be afraid to refinish them yourself. It is very rewarding.:)
