Anyone selling a Power Lead with IEC connector. Something better than a kettle lead!

that there juice has travelled a long way from your local substation.
trust me when I say an extra couple of feet will make no diffence...even if its solid gold, silver, costalotium etc..
I have standard power leads throughout and recently tried a couple of "you beut" thick leads with gee wiz plugs and snazzy lurid coloured sleeves....one featuring a carbon fibre weeve under its thick clear outer cover.
both looked proper cool but made NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER. pure snakeoil.

OK, I'll bite on the blatant thread crapping.
The substation isn't part of the loop that a component "sees". It's an absurd argument that electrons travel or "wiggle" through our components, into plug sockets right through to substations.
Some equipment is transparent enough to make cable changes audible, some equipment is cranky with certain cable characteristics, and some people are silly enough to make blanket assumptions.
Power leads make as big if not a bigger improvement than interconnects and speaker cable. I've lost count of the number of people who once were of the opinion, 'they make no difference' and now there whole system is using quality power cables. If you are happy with your kettle lead, all well and good, but without trying you should not put down.

Indeed... If either of them do it again, they'll be getting a week's holiday (as per the rules stated), which being established members, they should've read and digested.

Not the place to discuss this, mate. Sales/wants threads aren't for these types of discussions. If anyone want to discuss the merits or otherwise of 'audiophile' power leads, please start a thread about it in Artist's Palette. Ta! :cool:

I have to agree with that. I think it's the quality of the shielding. Standard mains leads leak a lot of electrical noise. That's why as a network engineer, we'd avoid running network cables in the same conduits as mains cables. I'm sure that one of the main gains from using good quality leads is the avoidance of electrical noise from one cable, affecting the signal passing along another cable.

Personally I would not spend a penny on anything unless I can hear a beneficial effect in my system and as much as I have found significant differences with interconnects, I have found beneficial effects with Mains power leads. At a minimum mine are all screened and as I run a rats nest behind my system this is essential. Interestingly it was only when I had replaced all my leads I heard the biggest effect.
As a geeky thing to do I actually took all my power leads out one by one and clocked any performance difference, then popped them back in one by one. Normal kettle leads were used in place of the screened cables.
The difference was not subtle especially when I went from no screened leads to all screened!

at no point in my post did I suggest electron WRIGGLE from substation, through component and then back to substation....I merely suggested that a couple of extra feet of wire cannot compensate for problems incurred in the MILES of cable back to the source of the "juice".
my intention was to save a fellow member money....better spent on music perhaps.
also, may I suggest a component "upset and cranky" from a couple of feet of wire is either defective or poorly designed

What did I put,can't find it? I never meant any offence:( I have tried some leads and extension block from Russ Andrews, waste of money for my lugs
S'ok now, James. Just in future remember that threads in the classifieds section (where this one used to be until it was moved) are *solely* for folk buying or selling equipment. They're not places for holding debates or offering views on matters liable to adversely affect the needs of the buyer or seller :)
