View Full Version : FS: Dual 1219 TT Fully Refurbished
Hi guys, I've decided to sell my Dual TT which I bought last year after selling my Technics SL1200.
I bought the TT from a German guy (website below) who specialises in selling and refurbing old 1970s Dual and other types of TTs.
I got a Sprocker puppy last April and have never played a record since so the TT is just sitting there like an ornament not being used, it comes with a Shure cart and a cool white new plinth which makes the TT look a bit contemporary I think
The TT is in pretty much excellent condition and has hardly been used since I got it, there's also a Schitt Mani phono stage available and another cart carrier for swapping carts over easily to try out.
The current cart which is practically brand new is the Dual version of a Shure V15 Type 111.
I paid about £550 for the TT delivered from Germany and I think £75 for the phono stage, happy to post the phono stage but the TT is pick up only from Glasgow or surrounding areas however I would be prepared to travel as far as Carlise provided the TT was paid for up front as I'm not traveling 100miles on spec unless you want to pay for my traveling costs.
I'm looking for £550 for the TT and £70 for the phono stage plus postage and £30 for the cart carrier which I bought brand new from Thacker in Germany.
I'll be putting an ad on PFM shortly so it will only advertised on both of the forums as I've no intention to put it on the likes of Ebay.

BTW, the TT is pretty much as new and comes with a spindle stacker adaptor and I think a 45 adaptor but will have to check that.
Works perfectly and sounds great too.

Just to answer the posts that I obviously missed, thanks Grant.
1) I paid what I'm asking for the TT and can provide the receipt etc however I am open to reasonable offers.
2) The TT is vintage so it's bound to sound vintage but I like the sound of it and frankly it doesn't sound much different from other TT's that I've owned in the past, sounds great with jazz and 1970s soul IMO.

Just checked the receipt for the TT which is below, I paid 650 euros delivered from Germany and the seller confirms that the deck has been completely refurbished.
BTW, I think the plinth costs somewhere round 280 euros on it's own plus the cartridge which was 120 euros.

Thanks Grant, I bought mainly for the aesthetics, it really is a lovely looking thing but there was some very favourable comments re Dual TTs on here and on PFM particularly regarding the 1219 which made my mind up.
A punter on PFM who speaks German helped me out with the sale, below is his post on the seller.

"The deck itself is refurbished entirely, meaning all parts, including the motor,
which he said many offerers spare out bc it's a lot of work.
Here the motor is done, too.
System: He recomended a Sure V15 III , he can offer with new needle for around 120€
He also said, he personally would recommend using 2 systems and 2 heads as the heads are changed within minutes.
For listening Jazz and Classic, he would recommend a M20G, he could offer too for ~130€.
He said changing the system for the particular music would give you effectively an entirely different deck.
V15 III would be more suitable for Rock & Pop, but if you settle for only 1 system, which I indicated you probably prefer, then the V15 III.
He said he did the chassis handmade by himself and you will not expect microscopic perfect finish, but he's a DIY teacher, so it's solid work and a generally good look.
I asked for prizes and options & he said you can order directly from him.
His suggestion was you pre pay 50% of the total prize.
Then he sends you the deck, after you received it, you pay the remaining 50%.
Also he will offer a sort of giving you a written promise that all faults occuring within a specific time will be covered by him.

I asked for a total offer for the entire package icl. postage to UK.
He offered 650€ for deck + V15III incl. new needle and incl. postage UK.
So 60€ above the offer you know, but much better system and postage in."

These things are becoming collectors items now, prices are sadly higher now and they do need some vital work on the arm-height mechanism and the infamous 'steurerpimpel' if bought blind from an unknown seller. Wonderful, wonderful machines in fine fettle, easily beating a Rega 3 musically (the RB arms may resonate less, but the Dual arm never lets it show in my experience of using one with many cartridges - mine was a 1229 and now the related 601 and 701) and almost as quiet in the grooves too. The V15 III has NEVER sounded so sweet as it can in a Dual vintage tonearm and even if the original exit lead looks pants, the extra capacitance is just what the V15 needs for best sonics...
When shipping, please take care to remove the platter and counterweight and pack them separately. All manuals are available from Vinyl Engine :D

Thanks David, this TT has barely mark on it and the cartridge is brand new too.
I'm just not using it and it's a waste it just sitting not being used when someone could be enjoying a fine example with a really nice plinth.
Someone asked about a cover which I don't have but I'm sure someone on here makes them for reasonable money at around the £60 mark, anyone have a link?

Hi guys still for sale.
I priced up a dust over on Ebay and was quoted £80 inc delivery for 5mm acrylic with a cut out for the cables at the left hand side of the cover so if anyone is interested in the TT then I can supply the guy's details for your own requirements or I can organise and pay for the cover and then add that cost to the TT.

Try Vinyl Engine, as they seem to have a classified section. You could maybe introduce yourself in the Dual 'Room' as well as there are lots of mad Dual fans (like me) there.

Hi Nigel, sorry for not replying before now but I've not been on here for a while and didn't receive any notifications or if I did I missed it.
Anyway I'm not entirely sure what the plinth is made from but I think it's MDF and it's in four pieces (glued I suspect) it's about an inch thick on the underside/inside and about an inch and a half/two inches thick at the turntable/top and it's quite heavy.
