Anyone know what this came from and what it's used for? It is Russian Mil-spec so I'm told and used for hifi applications. I'll post the answer after a few guesses ;)

So it's a 6Zh1P EV but what's that copper base all about?

Is it a special design for Vladimir Putin's valve amp?

Yes, it's likely of Voshkod manufacture as the tell-tale grooves in the glass are there. It was intended for military applications and manufactured between the 1970's and 1980's.

My first guess was going to be a radiation level radio transmitter at Chernobyl but I'll stick with my Putin valve amp.

Saw one in maplin catalogue recently.. might not have been very good but it looked cool. I bypass my soundcard as its crap lol. Just goes out to dac, either using driver for dac or via jriver driver. At least i think i am

P.S. Obviously tongue in cheek!

The macbook internal soundcard is bypassed, and the files are streamed direct to the off board DAC. The valve/USB stick was a cool 50th birthday pressy from my out-laws...
