Kodi will allow you to play your media files, TV, Music, Photos, Movies, e.t.c either from its local storage, external drive or your NAS.
The spec of the box is as below and was specifically built to allow the streaming of full bit rate Blu Ray Movies from my NAS at 1080P. Which it does marvelously. It has built in infrared and comes with the ASUS original Remote
